At my old job the only way I could eat was if I stayed at my desk. There was only one person per shift that did my job and the desk could not be left alone (even if you went to the bathroom you had to take the cell). The desk/computer was shared between all shifts so I did an extensive wipe down with sanitary wipes before even sitting down at the start of the shift.
However, if someone ate at their work station at my current job I would be totally grossed out. Not because of touching the computer and eating (I still wipe my computer down and wear gloves), but because the entire department is so dirty and dusty. I just feel that in this environment it is unsanitary.

lol, Funny you might post this, just today we were talking about this at work. Im working in an architecture firm, and well we spend most of our days, (basically our life) in front of the computer. So I will have to go with NO, i find it absolubtly normal, but i guess its just that we spend so much time in front of the computer we all do it sometimes :0)

I eat at my desk all the time. The only thing that bothers me is one of my cubicle neighbors slurping his soup loudly. I find it very distracting.

I eat at my desk all the time. All. The. Time. If I didn’t I would never be able to eat. I would starve to death. Granted I could take a lunch but it just doesn’t always work out that way. I also could care less if people eat at their desks. It only bothers me when the food is super smelly/bogue.

I work at a lab and cannot bring food to my desk. However, at past jobs, I’ve eaten at my desk and haven’t cared when others did the same.

I don’t care as long as they aren’t being obnoxious about it (bringing in foul smelling foods, slapping their lips, etc).

I have my own office and eat in there quite often. Sometimes I just too engrossed in a project and I don’t want to leave.
I just had a flashback to a job I had in a “cube farm” a few years ago. I remember that the supervisors used to get upset if we didn’t leave our desk for lunch. Didn’t matter if we were eating or not, they just wanted us out of there!
