I am not in the wedding but it is my SIL so I could be in a couple of pictures. Should I get my hair and makeup done? I was planning on it by my hairdresser won’t be around that day so I don’t know if it’s worth finding some else or just blowdrying my hair straight and doing my own makeup.

Well, I’ve only done it when I’ve been a member of the wedding party OR it was a sibling getting married. So, if it’s your SIL, I would spring for it. ONLY if it’s cheap though. I won’t be advocating spending $100 or anything like that.

@brooklynrocks- I wish I could find a place to get my hair and makeup done for less than $100. But since it is my SIL, eventhough we don’t speak, I’m trying to debate whether I should find someone or if it even matters.

My SIL sprung to have her hair and my nieces hair done for our reception last weekend. I thought it was really nice that they wanted to look special for the day.

I would get my makeup/hair done even if I was just a guest. We’re going to a wedding next month and I’m not a relative or in thebridal party, but I’m going to get my hair done–last time I went to a wedding, I did it myself and it was a mess by the end of the night, and I just didn’t feel cute. And there were plenty of pics taken by friends, even if they weren’t professional. I’m just getting a blow out, not like an updo or anything. As for makeup, can you go to a MAC store? They’ll do it for $50, I believe.

If I could afford it, i would pay to have it done, only because I am not good at doing my own hair and makeup

@loribeth- I know what you are saying but I guess the reason that I am on the fence is that we are sort of like b list guests who only got invited because DH’s grandfather would have flipped out.
@hilsy5- I usually do get my hair and makeup done even if I am just a guest because my hairdresser is my best friend (she was my MOH) so I always have someplace to go. But with this wedding we are coming back from vacation and will be back about 2 and then the wedding is at 5 so I really don’t have time to make two stops for hair and makeup.

Well it’s up to you. If you want it done then have it done, there’s no rule to say you can’t 🙂

The only time I had my hair ‘done’ was for my FBIL’s wedding. I just had a blowout. I did my own makeup. To be fair… I wasn’t in any of the formal pictures.

The only time I got my hair done was when I was an MC for a wedding and the couple wanted me to wear the same color dress as the BMs, sit at the head table with them, and be in photos. I did my own makeup though since I don’t like having others do my makeup.

I’ve never even heard of people getting their hair/mu done if they weren’t in the wedding party – so it’s probably safe to say it’s not required, and if you don’t want to, it’s fine to do it yourself.

i never get my hair done in an up do or anything as a guest. but sometimes i plan to have a haircut on the same day of an event so i can have it blow dryed nicely by the hairdresser.

I might consider the MAC counter or something for makeup. I’d consider getting a blowout too, but my hair is unruly! I don’t think it is necessary for their sake, though…
