I know many moms do, but I’ve stopped drinking almost all juice and try to opt for more fruit and veggies instead. Darling Husband thinks that we should give Baby T juice (once he’s on solids) and I’m against it, at least until he is pre-school or kindergarten age, so I thought a poll is in order.

I think it might help if you added ages? I have two children, with my first I was kind of a crazy mom and way over protective. I never gave him straight juice until he was almost three, always did the half-juice half-water. Now he’s 5 and he gets “real” juice once or twice a day. I’ve been more relaxed with my 2 year old, sometimes I water it down, but sometimes she gets pure juice once or twice a day.

I give my daughter juice if we’re going out on a shopping trip or something like that. I don’t want to keep a cup of milk in my purse for an hour or more and let it get warm (I don’t bring a diaper bag on short trips out). Also, she simply will not drink plain water. I tried that before she had juice and she just won’t drink it. Most of the time she get’s half water and half juice and she’s 18 months.

My daughtre got 1/2 water 1/2 juice now and then. I also made sure I had a supply of pear or prune juice on hand for constipation which seemed to happen fairly often between 9 months and about 2.

Don’t have kids yet, but my nephew just turned two and he gets juice occasionally. At restaurants and at home he gets milk, and if my SIL is taking him somewhere, she most often fills his sippy cup with water. He also loves drinking bottled water. However, every once in awhile he gets apple juice. I don’t know if she waters it down though.

She sucks juice off the tip of my finger if I’ve had fruit. But we’ll probably give her juice when she gets bigger. I usually drink my juice watered down so we’lll prob do the same for her and we’ll make sure its 100% fruit juice and not a masquerading candy drink.

I am pregnant and plan on doing the half juice half water. I also worked in day care and that is usually how we gave the kids juice (I worked with 15 months old to 2 years and helped out from 2 to 3 yrs occasionally.)
