anondotcom :  The only time I may do this, is if it’s at a housewarming/new house of a close family/friend or they’d recently renovated.   Even then, I’d say “give me the tour”!  Rather than just help myself.

I’m not great at following instructions, so I’ve been known to open the wrong door when trying to find a bathroom, but I always quickly close it.

I think that was incredibly rude and I’d probably not invite them back.

I’m the odd freak out who loves giving people tours of our house.  Probably because I clean every inch of it before any guest comes over so you better believe they’re going to get a tour of the laundry room.  That said, I don’t go exploring around other people’s houses.  If they feel like showing me the upstairs  closets then I’m sure they’ll make it known.

I would never show myself around someone else’s home; doors are closed for a reason. Indeed, I would never want someone to feel like their entire house had to be showroom perfect to have me over, either.

If the door is open, sure I’ll have a peek. But you don’t just open closed doors… they’re obviously closed for a reason. (The exception for me would be my parents or maybe my siblings new house, but we don’t really have boundaries in my family).

However I’ll generally just ask the host directly for a tour becasue I love checking out peoples houses haha.

Good Lord no I never would – and I’d be a bit put out  if someone did it in my house too!
