cryan0717:  That’s so sweet!  Does he use headphones or are you just a heavy sleeper?  I’d love to get in bed around when my fiance does, but I’m also a night owl and like to watch TV and/or work, but he’s a pretty light sleeper and any light or noise keeps him up.

Mostly we go to bed at the same time but every now and then we get into a pattern where ones of us is up later

We don’t. Fiance goes to bed around 9 and gets up around 6am. Ive always been a night person, so usually Ill go lay with him til hes ready to go to sleep, then I’ll go clean the kitchen and sit up for another few hours. I really need to go to bed earlier but I cant get to sleep that early and i cant have my lamp on to read as then he cant sleep.

On the weekends we do go to bed at the same time though.

We very rarely go to bed at the same time and like you I hate it. We work completely different shifts, I do office hours Monday to Friday and he works every weekend alternate day and night shifts plus a couple of days through the week, so I’m in bed early through the week as I need 8-9 hours sleep and he’s still up watching tv. I always go to bed with him when he’s on at 6am so we can have snuggle time. That’s really the only time we go to bed together – every other weekend and when he’s on 6-2 during the week. I sleep alone when he’s on nights which I really really hate!

Always! On the nights where one of us wants to stay up later or can’t sleep, we will go to bed until the other person falls asleep then sneak out of the room. I hope we can keep this habit up throughout our marriage because I love falling asleep together. Sometimes I can’t get comfortable in bed if he isn’t there.

Most nights we go to bed at the same time, but not always. I don’t mind going to bed earlier if Darling Husband is home working on his computer, but I don’t sleep well when I go to bed and he isn’t home from work yet. I worry!

alibc:  He’s the absolute sweetest! I’m a superrrr light sleeper. He just uses headphones! And a little light doesn’t bother me as long as it’s quiet so he can do work on his computer or whatever 🙂

We almost always do, it’s important to us to do so, but we are lucky in that we have flexible work life (currently both work from home) so we are able to get to bed whenever we like. When I was working early mornings, he adapted to my schedule. We like having the extra closeness, but I know plenty of couples who don’t because of work schedules or other reasons and it works fine for them.

We have approx the same work schedule so if I go to sleep, he knows he should be sleeping too. We also can’t really sleep without eachother. If I’m not tired and want to stay in the living room doing whatever, he will fall asleep on the couch so he doesn’t have to go to bed alone.

Darling Husband travels for work most the the month, so I’m normally sleeping alone. When he’s home, he goes to bed early…like 9pm, but wakes up early. I’m usually watching TV for an hour or so after he goes to bed. Even when we go to bed at the same time, he falls asleep ASAP while I usually stay up a bit.

It’s probably half and half. Darling Husband sometimes stays up later and sometimes I go early. It doesn’t bother me!

If we’ve both got to get up early in the morning for work or something, we’ll typically go to bed at the same time.  But if one or both or us are off the next day, we each just go to sleep when we’re tired, and often that’s at different times.

Very rarely as I’m an early bedder and he’s a night owl. He gets his time once I’m in bed and I get some quiet time in the morning whilst he’s still sleeping. Sometimes, when I know he’s about to wake in the morning I sneak back into bed for a snuggle

Not usually. I get up at 5:30 in the morning for work, so I’m in bed by 9/9:30 most week nights. Fiance certainly isn’t going to go to bed then. We’re both night people, but he stays up waaaaay later than me. Some nights, if he’s really tired, or I stay up a little later, we’ll go to bed at the same time – but that’s the exception rather than the rule.

I am a night owl but due to work hours and my meeting with my trainer, I usually go to bed earlier than my SO. Sometimes I can get him to get into bed with me at the same time and he really does love snuggling but it’s hard because I have to get up very early for work and he can sleep in.
