@Ambience:  This was a big issue for me to get across to the saleswoman at the jewelery store.  The particular engagement ring that I was interested in made it impossible to have a straight wedding band.  I told her that is a problem for me, it has to be straight because there may be a time when I need to wear it by itself.  She kept trying to sell me one that was curved and trying to push me to just get them sottered together.  I didnt want the sottered.  I told her I would need a different ring all together (basically one in the same style) but one that allowed for a straight wedding band. Well, I got it! The ring style that I wanted, and a straight wedding band! (it’s not here yet -resizing n what not I would send a picture if i had it)

@Ambience:  I was considering a curved band as well but was worried about how it would look on it’s own. I eventually decided to get a custom-made band, but here are the types of rings I was considering as an alternative to the standard curved band or straight band:

i have a very awkwardly shaped engagement ring (though i love it)and im having the same problem. having been in lots of jewellery shops it seems ill have to get one custom made anyway, but im worried it will look a bit odd

Because of the shape of my e-ring, this is the only band I tried on that looked right.  Its delicate enough that I think it looks fine by itself.

I’m not sure if this is what you mean by curved, but mine is scalloped!

I picked out a curved band because straight just didn’t look right with my ring.

@Ambience:  yes I think that would look odd worn by itself.

I wanted the band to sit flush up against my ring, and straight bands just didn’t look right.  I went with a slightly curved band.  I actually love just wearing the bands together sometimes (without my e-ring).

I think if it’s curved like a chevron, then it will be ok.

I have curved enhancer bands b/c I wanted the flush look with my ring. However, I don’t plan on just wearing my bands alone either. I didn’t want the gap so curved bands were the way to go with me!

Here is my enhancer bands-e-ring slips into the middle- 2 curved bands connected at the bottom.
