@mrslittlefish:  Not married yet but FI and I have a longstanding date night, which is every Saturday night if something else doesn’t come up. We always go out for dinner (usually somewhere casual but sometimes a nicer place) and then usually something else – sometimes a movie, sometimes dancing, sometimes live music or a play. We just check out what’s going on in the area and pick something.

DH and I go out a lot; mostly on weekends.  One of the fun things we’re enjoying now is going to a local sports bar on Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons, drinking some beer and catching football games, which isn’t a date night but a day-date.

Other date night ideas we enjoy:  Symphony or ballet; mall shopping and dinner; our local brewery has wonderful craft beers and live music – we do that a lot; musical festivals; art shows; movies, etc.

Cost-wise, it varies.  We’re active so a lot of stuff we do is free during the day, like hiking at a nature park.  A more expensive thing we do is dinner out and the symphony, which can come to around $250-$300 hundred dollars.  But, we recently went to see an evening Rembrandt display at an art museum, and the tickets were only $20.  You can have fabulous dates for not a lot of money.

Ha every night is date night! I’m sure it’ll be much more difficult once he starts grad school and we have kids. But every night we’ll at least do SOMETHING together – either watch something on Netflix ($0), make dinner together ($-$$), go out to dinner ($-$$$$), go out in the city ($-$$$$), have a sing along (so embarrassing, but $0), etc. But it is fun to plan things a few days or weeks in advance to have that to look forward to. We just have no stress or responsibilities right now, which makes it easier to do things as a couple.

There’s an envelope on the fridge that says “Fun Bucket”  we both throw cash in it, and whenever one of us feels the need for a date, we go grab some $$ and take the other out…it’s varied from a little dinner out at our favorite little hole in the wall to a total money blow out at a renaissance faire where we ended up deciding to stay in the same town at a nice B&B…

Speak of the devil, DH just put on my Google calendar “Make pumpkin squares” (that’s a dessert he likes) with a specific date and time. Yes, you see the caliber of our dates? Tongue Out

We try to go out every other Friday night. It’s typically just dinner, but sometimes we’ll do something extra. Or we make an effort to play a board game when we get home instead of just sitting in front of the TV/respective computers.

We do about twice a month.  We have turns being in charge of organising it every fortnight.  We usually do it on a Fri or Sat night or sometimes Sat day but it really depends what we have on that weekend.

I like having turns choosing so we don’t end up saying, “what do you want to do?”  “I don’t know, what do you want to do?”

Date nights could be a movie, mini golf, the zoo, nature walk etc not necessarily costing $ but something we can do that’s just us.

We bought an entertainment book this year which is a book full of vouchers, often buy 1 entry somewhere, get 1 free so we use that a lot and it also has restaurants in it too plus movie vouchers.

We don’t have a formal date night, but I’d sure like to have one!  Whenever I bring it up, DH says every night is date night – sigh.

No we don’t have a date night set up. We go on several dates a week though during the weekend mostly! 🙂 IDK if you would consider all of them dates but we often go golfing & hiking also. We eat out alot, during the week as well.

I like that we don’t do the same thing on a certain day of the week/month. Its always spontaneous! When we have a baby that may change though. Can’t be as spontaneous with a baby, so we will make it a big effort to always get some “us” time each week!

We do it a couple times a month. Its sometimes as simple as doing to the diner and home to watch a movie or an impromptu train ride to the city to walk around and shop. This weekend our date night will be date day as we are going to the local oyster festival.

Every Friday is whiskey and pizza night for us. We get drunk at home, eat greasy pizza, and watch movies.

Saturdays we play Dungeons and Dragons with a group of people (not by my own volition…)

We don’t do a date night, but we do make time for each other every weekend.

Being cheap, CHEAP people who are trying to save so I can go on mat leave, etc, we have always kept our date nights in the low price ranges. Generally they range from a hike (free) to using air miles coupons to see a movie (we upgrade the popcorn and add butter, so it ends up costing about $3 for two tickets, two drinks and popcorn), to going to A&W or Wendy’s for dinner and then watching a movie ($20).

Our last date night was a few weeks ago (we just moved, so it has been hard) and we went to an antique market for the day. It was great!

We do an unofficial date night. We often go out to dinner (somewhere cheap, like $35 for both of us with tax),to a movie (there’s a $3 theater in town and used to be a drive-in!), a museum, art-walk, walk around the lake, etc. We try to do this every weekend but sometimes it doesn’t happen and that’s ok!
