We live in a 400sqft studio so by default there is a TV in our ‘room’ haha.  In our last place though, it was just in the living room.  But having TV near our bed hasn’t affected either of our sleep tendencies or sexy time :] ..so no huge difference for us.

Fi and i have chosen not to have the tv because if we do then thats all we seem to do in the bedroom and thats just unacceptable. haha. i will never allow a tv in there.

@JewishBride:  LOL. My bedroom is my FAVORITE entertainment place–just not the TV kind. No bedroom TV for us.

No TV for us at all.  I have never had a television in my adult life..had them growing up with parents, but have not had one for 11 years.  SO was the same when I met him.  Never even think about it.  I guess once you don’t have one for so long, it really has no place in our life or home. It would be more of a hassle than anything. Not to say I have a big problem with tv, but it’s really not my thing. Occasionaly at work I get to watch it and it is such a treat-I love the old people programs like wheel of fortune and stuff.

So, actually, we used to have a little tiny one-like super tiny, that we would occasionaly pull out and watch movies on (haha-with an old vhs we had!) but realized we could use the computer instead (and step up our game with DVDs), so put it in the basement.  My sister and her husband were home staying with us for Christmas one year and they mentioned they also didn’t have a tv, so we offered them the little one in the basement.  They said they really don’t want a tv at all and how happy they were not to have one.  Right at that moment her father came to the door with a big huge box-yup, a brand new huge flat screen tv for them to take home and hang on their wall.  Haha, it was such a funny moment-of course we didn’t tell him and they graciously accepted the gift.  It was funny to sit back and watch them be like, “wow Dad, this is great!” and he was so proud of himself for picking out such a great gift.  They ended up hanging it on their wall and just watch movies on it-no cable or anything.  It was such a funny moment though and the timing was perfect!

Back to the OP, if we did have a tv, we would probably not put it in our bedroom.

yes but we rarely use it.  it’s not hooked up to cable; just a dvd player.

There have been some good studies that came out that a tv in the bedroom definitely reduces intimacy and also once kids come along, they tend to flock to mom and dads room to steal their boobtube. Also, it is harder to explain to older kids why its okay for you and not them. So we have a no tv in the bedroom rule. Period. Even my 19 year old. Rooms are for sleeping and studying…for the kids, anyway. 😉
