When we bought our house, it had a cable outlet in the kitchen and was set up for a tv to be hung on the wall across from the eat in kitchen table area. I thought this was so weird because growing up, we weren’t even allowed to listen to TV during dinner lol
Do any of you have a TV in your kitchen? Why or why not? I’m just wondering if I’m missing something?
Also, any other kitchen wall decor pics are welcome! I have 2 medium-large size walls in my kitchen that need some love 🙂

Nope, never have and never plan on it. I kind of hate that we can see the living room TV from our dining area, I wouldn’t want a TV in the kitche too. :/ I just want one single TV, in the living room, where it belongs! LOL

onceuponadream: No tv in the kitch not tv in the bedroom. I feel that the dinner table/kitcher are very important to keeping family connections. The tv is a distraction from family time. We weren’t allowed to have tv where as FI’s family only watched tv. My family has closer connections where he doesn’t have that close of a connection. My sample size is very small but I think we were able to bond more when we weren’t watching TV.

Does a macbook count? I’ll often use it to pop on hulu or a podcast when cooking. Other than that no. We have more than enough TVs in the house for two people, one in the kitchen, especially with our layout would be overkill.

I would love to have a TV in my kitchen, sometimes on week ends I could spend hours cooking dinner for the week ( I pre-cook alot of meals on week ends) and on sundays I usually fuss for that special sunday dinner. It would be nice to glance and hear the news or just something to watch besides myself cooking. I think its a PLUS.

The house we bought has hookups and TVs in a crazy amount of places but not the kitchen. We have TVs in the bedroom, living room, a theatre room in the basement (came with the house), and even an outdoor TV (again came with the house). It’s way more than I’m used to and I’ve never used the outdoor TV. I can’t imagine needing another TV in the kitchen, but if you want to replace it I may have some ideas. Over the cabinets I have my favorite cookbooks and colorful bottles, I have a vintage cookbook rack on the counter with a wine rack and DIY wine bottles painted black with sparkles, and a under the cabinets wine glass holder. We have tile backsplash so I don’t have room for Art or hanging measuring spoons. I may add undercounter lighting with LED tape lights.

onceuponadream: our kitchen is open to the living room and i love it, In our rental house the kitchen was totally blocked off from the rest of the house and i hated it esp when we had guest over. Now i can mingle with guest adn we can watch our shows while i’m cooking.

We always had a tv in our kitchen growing up! I plan to hang a small one in mine as soon as we’re done renovating. I do a lot of cooking (as did my mom) so when I’m in there alone it’s nice to turn the tv on! I also like to record recipes on the cooking channel and play them back when I’m attempting it myself. I don’t feel that our tv in the kitchen ever took away from family time, if anything it added to it. We always kept the news on and discussed it, and when dinner was ready the tv went off.

No because our kitchen doesnt have room for kitchen things let alone a TV! Even if it did I wouldn’t have one – don’t see the need

Nope, we have no room. Plus our living room is right around the corner, so if i need to see something (football) i can run around quick.

Nope. Our kitchen is open to our dining room, and technically we could mount a TV over the dining room fireplace, but I’ve never felt compelled. I think it looks nicer without one, and if I want to listen to music or tv while cooking, I just turn it up louder in the living room. I use pinterest on my phone to look up recipes while I’m cooking, and that does the trick! Lol my boss has a smart TV built into his refrigerator. It seems kind of like overkill, but it’s kind of cool!

Yup. We have a small flat screen in the corner of our kitchen counter. I spend the majority of my time in the kitchen either cleaning up, folding laundry (use the island for a folding surface), cooking, baking, eating lunch/breakfast, etc. But then again I grew up with a tv in the kitchen so to not have one would be very odd to me.

growing up we had a half wall from the eating area to the living room, so we could clearly see the tv. it was tradition to watch jeopardy while we ate.
now i do have a small tv in my kitchen. it sits on the counter. when we cook, we watch cooking shows, sports, news, music, etc.
but our tv free room is the living room. we are in there often, just Darling Husband and I chatting and when we have guests over.

We have one in the kitchen but not in the dining room. As a family, we will eat in the dining room (kitchen is too small, it’ll be breakfast only). I love listening to the TV while I cook and cleanup. It would be very weird not to have one.

not in the kitchen but since we have open concept if I am standing at the island I can see the TV in the LR…. I don’t think that I would really ever be watching tv in the kitchen but the one thing that I do like about it is that Darling Husband is more likely to come sit in the kitchen area and watch TV (something like sports center or a game) while I am cooking since there is a TV within view… I think that if there wasn’t a TV near by it would be harder to get him to come hang out with me and chat while I get dinner ready as he would probably instead go hang in the other room
