I have a Kohl’s card and Best Buy card.

I used the Best Buy one for my laptop only b/c it gave me no-interest financing for a bit.

I use the kohl’s one a lot because I get good discounts that way.

I have a Gap card, a Macy’s card, and a Loft card.  I use them once in a while, pay them off, and use them again.  I use them because I get wicked good discounts when I do.

No.  Just on general principle, department store credit cards are typical high interest and a total PITA to close.

I have a Visa and an AMEx card.  (I think my APR on my Visa is like 3.9%.)  Last time a clerk tried to con me into opening a store account, I asked what the interest rate was….their answer?  19%.

Hell to the no.

I have both Old Navy and Banana Republic. I never use the ON one, but they say there’s no benefit to canceling these things, so it just sits there.

The Banana one is not just a store card but a real Visa card. So I can use it anywhere. It’s handy sometimes since Visa is taken pretty much everywhere.

@pokie45:  I don’t, but have been toying with the idea of a Target Card, 5% off every trip and free shipping when you buy online!  That could be worth it 🙂

I have a Gap card and a Macys card. I don’t use them very often, but they have great benefits for when I do shop at those places so I keep them.

I don’t, my only “branded” cc is a United mileage points card.  I don’t shop at big stores enough to care about savings or bonuses or whatever.

I have a Kohls, a Best Buy, and a Victoria’s Secret card. I got my Kohls when I was younger because I was shopping with a friend. She encouraged me to get the card and I asked her if it was like a store bonus card… like the kind grocery stores use. They aren’t a credit card, they get you points or whatever. She totally misunderstood what I was asking and said yes lol.

Best buy I had to get because my computer got a virus. It HAD to get fixed and I needed protection, but I didn’t have all the $ up front. So now I have a best buy with an INSANELY high limit because at the time I was still working my job and living at home. The way the credit questionnaire was phrased it made it look like I had a steady income and like, NO bills (student loans weren’t on there either!)

I never ever use my Victoria’s Secret card, best buy is a no unless we would “have” to, and Kohls…. ok Kohls is another story!!!!

For your credit score, having only 33% of your “potential debt” used up is good, 33%-50% is fine, and anything over %50 is gonna hit your credit a little bit. At least this is what I was told. So in a way, having that best buy card is awesome, because I have all this “potential” debt and it’s not being used!!

And other than those, I do not have a “real” credit card, just store ones. I’m ok with keeping it that way!

Nordstrom and Lane Bryant. I pay off everything I charge within the same month, and reap the benefits the stores offer.

I have a Banana Republic card – I actually got it because I had zero credit card history when I graduated from college (I had no student loans or car loans or any debt to speak of – so punish me!) and it was the only card I could get at the time. I only use it once every few months, but I do enjoy the rewards, like $10 off here and there.

I open up cards to get the intro discounts and then tend to forget about them so they close on account of no activity.   right now I only have a tj maxx card.

@elysion:  I have that card too, and I love it!! When Darling Husband and I flew home for the holidays last year we got to hang out in the United VIP Lounge during our long layover. And free checked bags. And free rewards flights. Oh my, love it so much.
