Not necessarily Christmas or birthday gifts but when someone offers something to you out of the blue for no reason. If so, how you do deal with it when you feel guilty accepting their generosity (even though there is nothing wrong with it on their part) and they refuse to take no for an answer without coming across as bratty?

I don’t and I think it’s because I really like to give gifts out of the blue, myself. I love when I’m out shopping and find something that reminds me of a good friend from college, or my sister, or a work friend, etc. and I have to purchase it immediately for them. I guess it’s just an expression of love for these people.

I don’t necessarily mean tangible gifts either, though those could apply too. But “services” (for lack of a better term) that fall into the category of gifts or financial assistance from anyone for any reason or anything of that nature.

I guess it would depend on who it was from, what it was for and how much it cost. If someone just offered me an all expenses paid cruise as much as I would LOVE to take it, I couldn’t. However if someone bought me a T-Shirt I would take it.

My mom always taught me that it is rude not to accept a gift so I always smile with the sweetest smile and just say thanks and of course accept!

I do feel awkward sometimes, and it would always depend on the situation – I never like to open gifts in front of people, something about that makes me feel funny!
