I made many of the same mistakes you made and now have a dress that I don’t want and have a whole year before my wedding, which I hope to find another dress that I love and sell the one that I own.

Yeah…. I bought the 2nd dress I tried on.  I felt pretty on the day of, but in pictures, it wrinkled in the bodice soooo badly, and I wish I would have gotten something that held up better.

I also just bought a dress a month ago and two weeks later regret, regret, regret. I had my mom and Fiance’s mom with me that day and thought I picked “the dress”. There was the bottom of it that I thought looked choppy tho and the mom’s were telling me to go for another one. I just felt so pressured by them and the sales lady telling me what dress to buy that I went with my original but still hate the bottom of the dress when I look back at the photo’s from the fitting.

@lazybee Sounds like you went to DB? The same thing happened to me. They badgered me into buying the first dress I had a positive reaction to (only the 4th I’d tried on), saying I needed to order oh so soon because it would take months and months to get it in.

so i bought it.

2 weeks later they call and tell me it has arrived and I must remove it from their store within 72 hours.

I so hate that place.

Regardless, the dress is fine and I’m sure I’ll be happy with it on the day.

I agree, you should share your photos. I bet you were beautiful!

I had dress regret after the wedding. I still try not to think about it because it makes me so upset.

The sample I tried on fit perfectly, but the only size I could get in time was one size up. So we went with that one, thinking it could be altered. It was huge on me and $500 worth of alterations later, the dress was still very big on top AND too short!

The day of the wedding, I was so uncomfortable. My boobs kept falling underneath the boning of the cups and I had to keep hiking them back up. The waist was very loose on me and as the day wore on, the fabric stretched of course. So by the end of the day when we took our formal portraits, it is very badly fitting. And every pictures that shows the full length of the dress shows my feet sticking out from underneath because the lining kept riding up around my hips and wouldn’t hang straight. Because the dress was bunching up around my waist, every photo of me from the back makes me look like I have a HUGE butt. People even commented (not to me, but it got back to me) that my butt looked really big.

It was hard to just have fun on my wedding day because I was constantly tugging at my dress and feeling uncomfortable and awkward in it. And now every time I look at our photos, I’ll remember that.

I have horrible wedding dress regret! I got married three weeks ago. The wedding was beautifula and chaotic and exciting and fun, and all the guests loved everything about it. But I hated my dress. I got it custom made by a seamstress who’s very good and sweet, she attended to every detail I suggested adn we designed it together thrugh a process of talkign and drawing. we even shoped the fabric together. I loved everything abo0ut the dress, but the sizing turned out wrong! I am very skinny, like a size 0 US, UK 6, and I kept tellign ehr that I was aiming to gain a it of weight before the wedding, as I think it’s much nicer to be curvy! also, the weddign was in Sicily,. and I knew it would be very warm,, so I’d swell up in the heat. Yet she made it super tight. I tried it on one last time and we agreed that she shpuld make it tighter. So she did, adn stupidly, I did not try on the dress one alst time before flying off, due to time pressure and too much other stuff to deal with. So 2 days before the weddign I tried it on there, and horror, it felt so tight around the waist like I couldt breathe! I panicked and thought I cant stand a whole logn day in the ehat in such a tight dress. My mum who’s got some sewing skills opened it up in the sides, but there was no fabric to give from. So we rushed around in fabrc stoes and found some lace in a slightly darker colour, which we put into the back, taking out the zipper. This totallly ruined the shape of the dress from the front, meaning that it folded and buckled at the middle, in the place where there was a broad waitband. It also sagged in the back. Of course this was because my mum, being a mum, just thought the dress should be comfy, anmd I was so panicked and stressed I just didnt pay attention to details at that point. So in all the pictures you see a nice skirt, but a top that’s too loose and a side that sort of folds, instead of being tight and nice. Every time I look at the pictures I feel so annoyed at myself for not just either sitting throught eh pain of the tight dress, or making it right from the beginning or getting it right in the change process….lesson to pass on: try on the dress shortly before the weddign, consider the climate carefully and used a very experienced tailor/saeamstress!
