Mine comes once about every three to four months when I’m not on pills. I’m actually thinking about stopping the pills because I feel worse on them than I do off of them. Maybe I’m just not meant to have regular cycles or something?

Did you get nauseous on bc pills, MamaHusky3?

I had the same problem! Started my period when I was 12, and my cycle never regulated. At one point I went about a year without getting a period, but I was also anorexic at the time, so I think I was just too underweight.

But then after recovery from my eating disorder, I started getting ovarian cysts, which exacerbated the problem, and so I still would only get 4 or 5 periods a year. Even being at a healthy weight, I could go up to 6 months without a period.

I was finally put on birth control at 19, because if you don’t ovulate, you can’t get functional ovarian cysts. So I’ve been cyst-free and have had a regular period ever since.

I’m afraid that I will have problems trying to get pregnant in the future, since I have never ovulated regularly, but I guess I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.

I don’t get a period unless I’m on BC. I haven’t been on BC since May 2009, so it’s been awhile for me except I got one though an unexpected visit last month on my first day of work.  Great timing, huh?

I know it’s not healthy.  I know I need to go to the doctor, but in my case, I have no insurance.  So, I need to go to a clinic/family planning.  I am being stubborn about it though because I feel like I won’t get the best treatment possible.  I also want to find out what my problem is (I think it may be thyroid).  I’m constantly being lectured about it.

But I’m also scared.  >.>

@MamaHusky3: Hmm…It’s been three months. I actually had a lot of trouble with the last pill I was on, so I went off of them for about a year, and started taking a different one. I have a lot of stomach issues, so it might not be the pill at all. ๐Ÿ˜›

I totally get what you mean about feeling like there’s something wrong with you. Everyone complains about their period and you’re sitting there trying to remember the last time you even had one, lol. I think it’s probably more normal than we think to not be entirely regular.

It’s normal to have irregular cycles when you first start having a period.

I was able to predict when my irregular cycles would come up until July of 2010. Then they started getting really long and now I go 2 months without having one…which is extremely frustrating since my dh and I are ttc.

@MamaHusky3: Yeah, it depresses me at times.  I don’t feel “normal”, I guess.  I got so excited when I got the unexpected visit in February.  I am hoping for the same result in a few days.  But I won’t hold my breath.  I know I have the hormones/PMS that comes along with it though.  I’m going through it right now and I’m miserable.  Haha.  But I don’t get the actual period.  I always wondered if I’ll ever be able to have children.  It worries me.  I really need to figure something out.

@MamaHusky3: Yep, I’m in the same boat as you.  That paranoia will never dissipate until I actually conceive.  >.<  Here’s to the both of us though.  Long, healthy lives with any future children.

Mine visits about once every 4-6 months it seems, but even then I wouldn’t actually call it a visit. I have the “symptoms” every month but that usually only lasts one day other than me being a little cranky..
