You’re not strange! I used to have many friends I knew exclusively online, but I’ve lost touch with most of them. I spend little time actually socializing online these days.

I do, a number of them, and that’s how I met my SO, because we roleplayed in the same chat room at one time.   Most of my friends online are from a relatively small community of roleplayers.

No. I had a few people I talked to from the days that I played WoW, but I wouldn’t really call them friends….. just guild mates that helped me progress in the game.  Sure, I learned a lot about them and their lives….but I was alittle hesitant to give out too much information about myself. Especially to people whom I never met face to face…. Now that I stopped playing that game, I don’t hear from them anymore. Lets face it… I am pretty sure they only liked me for my “heals”…..Wink I did notice that a lot of the people on that game did create a special bond amongst themselves. Which is great and thats what sets it up as such a great mmo (I realized this during my short time on SWTOR)….. I just wasn’t into that….

I met my husband from Myspace, we exchanged a few messages before finally meeting up but I wouldn’t consider what we had as a friendship before that. Especially since I turned him down so many times due to the fact I was a little iffy on the whole thing. Glad I finally risked it though!!

I actually have quite a few. Several I met here on WB, several overnight ladies. There used to be nightly overnight chat threads when there werr some regular bees that worked overnight and were on while they were at work

I have a bunch through twitter. Most of whom I have met since meeting them online. We have bi-yearly internet blogger conventions for politicos which are a blast.

I have been to a few Bee meet ups, does that count? Other than that, I wouldn’t say I have online friends. I don’t chat with anyone in particular by PM or anything. I also only participate on the WB boards.

I’m friends with a group of women.  Some I’ve known for about 6-7 years and some 6-7 months.  The core group became friends on a shopping channel bulletin board, then we had our own board shere we discussed books, and now we have a group on FB.  There are women from all of the US and the UK and we range in age from 40s to 60s.  Hopefully, we’ll be able to all meet up one of these days.  🙂

My best friend and I have known each other since the spring of 2001, so just over 11 years now.  We were 11 and 12-year-olds who were infatuated with a boy band!  Haha, the good times of being a tween.  We were “online” friends for years, and met after many years (we only live a few hours from each other, in the same province – one highway separates us).  Now we regularly visit each other, and there isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t talk (texting, etc.).  Whenever I get married, she’s going to be my maid of honour.

It’s amazing the people you can meet online. You just have to be cautious, but that’s a given for everyone you meet I think.

I made a lot of good friends online when I was on my teens and early 20’s. Sadly, I’ve lost touch with most of them, but I still keep in touch with a few on Facebook. I’m also in a FB group with some of the other bees having May babies – I consider them friends. 🙂

I’ve met many people in real life after initially corresponding online (in a non romantic, non sexual manner) which ended being long term friendships.
