no problems with my engagement ring – but I take it off more than I’d like (for showers, dishes and cleaning).

My promise ring on the other hand had 4 little diamonds fall out within the first 2 months… the jeweller that he got it from was fairly upscale though and they were fantastic with replacing them at no charge… after that no problems.. and that thing was glued to my finger 24/7 (literally… by the time the engagement ring came I was 80lbs heavier and thought I’d have to cut my finger off to get the damn thing off lol it took ages of twisting and maneuvering!)

@ClassicStarlight:  I have a blue nile micropave setting.. and haven’t had ANY issues with any of the stones. They don’t even look remotely loose. So no I haven’t had any problems with the stones falling out.

I do not have issues with my pave ring. I did buy a bunch of tiny little white diamonds just in case one does fall out. My Future Mother-In-Law has a pave ring and one of her stones fell out. The corporate jewelry store charged her almost $200 to fix it. That is highway robbery. So if it happens I will only pay $20 to have one reset.

Though do make sure if you get a pave that the diamonds are set in prongs. There are pave set with jewelers glue and they do come out as the glue dissolves over time, esp. With ring cleanings. Hope that helps your decision.

I go to the jeweler every six months to get my diamonds tightened and to keep up with the warranty. I’ve have side stones fall out twice, but since it’s under warranty fixing it was free! Also my diamonds go almost all the way around band, so they get hit a little more frequently than a half pave would.

I had a stone fall out once.  It was right after I had it inspected (Shane Co. has you bring it in every 6 months to get checked out [and cleaned!]), and I had it resized at that time too.  I think it just got loosened with the resizing (it went a little smaller, so maybe the prongs were stretched or something), but I brought it back in and they replaced it with no hassle.  I do think it happens occasionally, but the tiny little diamonds are not very expensive, so…

Here’s my ring for reference!  The stone that fell out was on one side where the two swoops cross, right in the center there where they cross.

I have a neil lane ering with pave diamonds and halo from Jared. I LOVE IT.  However I had 7 stones fall out in the first four months of owning it. 6 on the band and one from the halo.

I don’t know if I got a lemon or what.  They acted like it was so rare to have this happen, and asked if I work in construction (lol, I work a desk job) all the replacement stones were covered under the protection plan that DH paid for, so it didn’t really bother me, other than having an empty finger for a few days, and I got a free cleaning each time.

Whatever they did on the last visit though seemed to do the trick, I haven’t lost a stone in over a year. maybe they listened to my suggestion to super glue them in?

Some people can wear pave, some can’t. I can’t wear pave. I used to have a pave engagement ring and diamonds were falling out ALL the time and kept having to replace them and had the ring replaced 3x by different micro pave stuff. Same thing with a bunch of other women. Pave doesn’t do well if you have to use your hands a lot. They shake loose sometimes (hey! it happens). If you REALLY want pave I suggest buying from a place like Jared that replaces stones for free as long as you get it inspected every 6 months. I am a jeweler by profession and can tell you that pave does fall out WAY MORE than any other setting that I’ve come across. But, they’re really damn pretty.
