I tipped at the hair trial because I paid then. I didn’t pay at the time of my makeup trial, so I just tipped heavily for makeup when I paid for that all together.

If you’re going to pay tonight, I would tip.

I am an over-tipper so I tip for everything even if it might not be the norm. I suppose there is an argument in either direction. Is the trial free (I ask because mine is)? If it’s free, then definitely yes because they deserve to be compensated for their effort and time spent doing the trial. If you are paying for the trial, I’d still be inclined to throw a little extra at them for the same reason outlined above.

I’m looking at my hair and makeup trial like any other hair appointment, and I tip my hairstylist at every appointment, even though she’s the one who owns the shop.  So yes, I’d probably tip him.

I definitely tipped my hair/makeup girl when we did the trial. The trial was soooo cheap ($35 for both!) and I knew that I was going to book her, so I wanted to be nice and show her that I really enjoyed her work!

I did not tip for my makeup trial, which was at my MUA’s home (not a salon).  Now I am thinking maybe I should have!  I did pay her in cash.

I am still confused about whether to tip vendors who work for themselves (MUA, photographer).  I think we will tip, but closer to 10% rather than 15-20%.

My trial was included and I tipped. I was afraid not too. haha So I tipped based off how much I had to put down at the trial and then tipped again off the balance the day of.

I did not tip at the trial BUT I tipped 50% the day of.  So, I think that way good enough…

ETA:  I only didn’t tip at the trial because the salon didn’t allow tips to be added on a credit card!!  Wtf!!  AND I never carry cash….so I was forced into not leaving a tip.  I felt like an ass…
