I’m trying to clean my house and it’s so hard because the Fiance and I both have equally annoying and stupid hoarding habits.
Mine: grocery bags
His: cardboard boxes
I guess I’m planning for the day when grocery bags are no longer available at stores…they stopped giving them out in Seattle.
He keeps boxes because he does a bit of ebay shipping.
What about you? What do you cling to like a crazy squirrel?? 🙂

Books, all my bookshelves are full, so I have had to start piling them up on the bookshelves in front of other books, and because my bookshelves aren’t very deep often the books fall off. But I refuse to get rid of a single one! I already took out the university novels that my parents technically paid for into the common areas of the house, so the books in my room are just mine, so I need bigger bookshelves!

Random papers. They are all over my house! I feel like they’re just breeding too.

Im a clothing hoarder. Even clothes I dont wear/dont fit/dont like. I box them up, and move them to my garage. I have probably 10 boxes full of clothing I dont wear. Plus I have half a walk in closet, two dressers and a giant pile of clothing that needs to be put away that I do wear. And I have a closet and a dresser full at my house in my hometown, for when I’m there over Christmas and during the summer.
It’s bad, and I know it, but I can’t get rid of them.

@cirk: I’m pretty bad about my clothes too … I like to keep stuff , even when it no longer fits. I think I’ve still got stuff from middle school in there.
Also, I keep all the cards and letters I’ve gotten throughout the years in a box in my closet. I can’t see myself ever getting rid of any of them.

Also books. Last time I had to get rid of some because I couldn’t fit them into my apartment, I bawled. I may have issues. hahaha

Papers! You never know whats going to be important one day. This just gets reconfirmed every so often too! SO just realized he needed a bank statement from 2 years ago to prove he paid a bill… But he just shredded all his old statements and other papers! AHHHHH!!

Uh oh…I think i actually hoard all of these things too!
@Omgbunnies: I love when that happens…it’s like oh you need a receipt from 15 years ago to give me a 1% discount…well *BAM* Discount me! Then I feel all validated for keeping stuff.
At least I’m organized, I keep it all but am constantly trying to organized. Fiance just piles it in his closet.
We both keep our movie stubs too…and we did this even before we met eachother…gosh I can just see that crystal ball future and it doesn’t look pretty haha!

@LadySmurph: I would never, ever get rid of my books..couldn’t!! So it would be a BIG issue for me if the place i was going to live couldn’t acommodate them..

i keep paper work
i keep clothes i would never wear or that dont fit
i keep any form of plastic bags
one thing im really bad for is buying paper towel everytime we go shopping. im always worried we will run out and this means we end up with a cupboard full of unopened packs of paper towel. lol

Bottles and cans that can be recycled. Its not true hoarding, since I get rid of them on recycling day, but I’m the crazy person who offers to carry home other people’s recyclables so that they don’t throw it away. It drives me crazy to see plastic bottles sitting in a trash can.

@cirk: I’m the same way with clothes. Maybe not as severe, hehe.
I hoard the hell out of grocery bags (I can recycle those! Don’t throw them away!) and twist tie/bread clip things. I always find uses for them so I never get rid of them.

wine. haha…just kidding, but not really. but I have a hard time throwing away clothes though I wouldn’t consider myself to be hoarding them. I also love books and buying books, so I will always have lots of books and I really can’t bring myself to get rid of any of them.

Clothes/Shoes/Purses… my closet is stuffed to the gills and I have to FORCE myself to get rid of clothing once or twice a year. And, even then I don’t get rid of as much as I really should.
