Yes, I judge them. I judge them to be people of good taste and style, ALL rings are beautiful and sentimental regardless of size.

I judge… but in a totally good way!

Since “bigger is better” seems to be the going sentiment these days, if I happen to see a “small” ring on a woman who I know could’ve spent a ton more (or whose SO could have spent a ton more) on a much larger one, I actually have nothing but respect and find it so lovely that she rocks a more modest/understated ring. One example is the partner in my group who could fo’sho afford a boulder if she wanted. But she has a lovely small ring that looks absolutely perfect on her and beyond classy.

Like all judgments, I’m sure I’m totally off base in certain situations. Maybe some of these women are totally unhappy with their SO’s choice of ring and are pining for a big upgrade or whatever, but my gut reaction to their rings is always the same — to swoon and think how elegant and sophisticated!

I don’t know if “judge” is the correct word. I love jewelry so I’m always interested in what others chose. If you get something poor quality esp if you overpaid for it, I often wonder why you didn’t educate yourself before making an expensive purchase. As long as the quality is there, I wouldn’t even care if you got a stone. There are so many beautiful and unique rings size really isn’t a factor for me. One of the prettiest sets I have ever seen was a one carat marquis in a halo with a pave split shank and diamond pave wedding band. it just suited the hand of the woman wearing it to PERFECTION, I still remember how it looked 🙂

Ukulele4You:  Those rings are lovely though, and very organic and artisan looking. My MIL’s ones aren’t nearly as nice at all, the diamond is waaaay smaller in her ring, and the band much wider, the proportions are really off on hers, that’s why it looks ridiculous. But also, she pissed me off with her snarky remarks about my ring, I’m not hating on all small stones in prongs, or all brushed rings, believe me! 😉

And yes, she likes her rings, that’s the problem, she likes them to the point of putting mine down in comparison, so I can’t justify her behaviour, and like I said I don’t judge other people but if someone judges me then I’ll happily judge them back in return. But I’d never tell her to her face what I really think about her, or her rings, that would be stooping to her level.
