I have a paper one and a journal that I’ve had online at opendiary.com since 1999. I have entries from when I was in high school and from when I first met Mr. Tattoo in 2000 and when I met him for the first time in 2001. I have entries about our breakup and all the drama around that and my first boyfriend after him.

I back up that diary every month and I’m glad I do because there was a hacker attack in 2004 I believe and a lot of people lost their whole diaries.

I’ve been keeping a diary or journal since I was 8. I have over 20 of them. My first was a Lisa Frank diary. hahaha. Loved it! It’s what really got me into writing, and ultimately why I became a journalist. Lately though I haven’t been that great about writing in mine, which is kind of a bummer because I wish I were documenting my wedding planning process a bit better.

I have one on a message board I belong to.  It’s in a private forum and people comment in it.  I love it.    I write it it everyday and have for about 4 years.

I’ve journalled regularly since I was 14 (I process thing through writing, so I tend to write a ton these days), plus I’ve had an online blog for a little over a year now.

I keep a sorta journal.  I don’t write in it regularly or about every day stuff.  I write when I am angry or hurt or otherwise emotional.  It helps me get to the root of what’s really bothering me so that I can properly express myself or decide it’s not necessary.  I tend to get overly emotional and not be able to communicate when I am very upset so the journal has helped me focus on the issue.

I started one a few years ago after receiving a really nice one as a bridesmaid gift.  At the time I did write in it a lot because I was going through a lot personally and I believe that it really helped me get through that.  Fast forward to me meeting my Fiance and I do not write in it at all.  I do still have it, and I re-read it a lot so I’ll know where I came from and what I’ve accomplished, but for me a journal is more of a way to get out some of the emotions that I experience, especially in troubling times.  I highly recommend one, even if it’s just a few sentences every other month.

I was thinking about starting a private blog – to write about my engagement and my feelings/thoughts through that process and I never did.  When we first got married, I thought it would be cool to chronicle thoughts on marriage… but, never did.  I used to journal back in the day – and reading the posts – it was all times when I was distressed (usually about a guy).  I think I only write when I’m distraught!

I’ve gone through a couple books, but the entries generally start off strong and then taper away until i get the itch again. I really enjoy looking back and seeing how far I’ve come since then. Its a comfort to me, knowing that if I could overcome what was hard then, I can probably get through what is hard now.

I used to write in a journal once or more a month, but then when I first started dating DH(just my new boyfriend then) he read it when he was drunk, so that traumatized me and I haven’t kept one since really, especially after he has expressed wanting to read it again in the past. I just haven’t been able to keep one lately because of it. I kept one regularly from when I was 16 through late 20s. I think I will start it up again though. I might look into online journaling too, like a blog. I would like to make one for teaching and maybe for a newlyweds when we finally have a baby:) Journaling is one of my favorite outlets/vents and one of the reasons I became such a great writer, I believe. It is comfort for me too.

In middle school (english class) through high school (drama class) I had to keep a journal for part of my grade. Outside of school I kept one too, sometimes to elaborate on more personal issues. After I graduated, I kept an online journal on livejournal.com for about a year or two, but haven’t touched it since, though I’ve been thinking about starting it back up in the past few months.

I keep a sketchbook with all of my ideas.  So, it is a visual journal of sorts.
