Of course I do fool, I paid for it! Or at least, I helped pay for it...

Yes I do - he bought it himself, but I saw the cost on the credit card statements/ATM receipts.

Yah - he never told me how much it cost, but I had it appraised.

Sorta. I have a general sense for how much jewelry costs, and was able to eyeball it.

No. I could've easily found out, but I don't really care about things like this.

No, he did it all on his own and never told me (or I didn't ask)

What, six options aren't good enough for ya? Fine, here is a 'none of the above' option for you!

Oops, forgot to add an option for "Yes, he told me how much it cost"

I voted “Yes, he told me how much it cost”, but in reality I picked it out. He told me how much he wanted to spend and he let me pick out I wanted.

Often times the ring will appraise way higher than what he paid for it. So just because you know the appraisal value, that doesn’t mean he paid that much for it. Just an F.Y.I.

A couple weeks after we got engaged, I sneaked a look at the receipt for the and gemology report for the diamond (I have a round solitaire in a simple six prong setting). I had to know what the actual carat size was, it may sound strange, but I just had to know for sure it was the size we had discussed, not bigger or smaller. And I wanted to know the price which ended up being waay less than I guessed since he got such an awesome deal.

Fi and I went to pick out the setting together..and he went to my cousin for the center diamond so I know how much the center cost too.  I feel guilty how much he spent, but then again I’m reminded that I deserve it. =)

Yes, because I saw the insurance paperwork on accident, which had a copy of the receipt. I would have found out eventually, but I know he wanted to hide the cost until it was paid off because he knew I would flip out because it was WAY more expensive than we had discussed. I did freak, but I got over it ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, I know.  I had my grandmothers diamond rings which we had reset into something I would like.  So I went along.  For two diamond bands (7 diamonds on each) and my engagement ring, it cost him $835!!!!!!!!  That’s it.  When we got the appraisal paperwork back to get them insured…I almost fell off my rocker.  I never knew my grandmother had amazing quality diamonds.  Needless to say, I love all of my rings.

Before getting engaged, we had both agreed to get each other engagement gifts that were relatively equal in cost, so we had started saving and budgeting for them in our joint account.  I’m picky with rings so I picked out the diamond and setting while we were still saving.  Fiance was being sneaky and bought the ring with his own money and when he proposed, he told me he never actually wanted an engagement gift for himself!  So we just put that money towards our wedding instead! ๐Ÿ™‚

    I don’t want to know…and he knows that.  So it’s a secret!

Yes, we’d been living together for about two years when we got engaged.  It’s a big financial decision, and we wanted to make it together.

I had a general idea of my FI’s budget, and what the rings we were looking at went for – but he went bigger than we originally looked at, and nicer quality, so I am PRETTY sure he went out of his budget by at least 1k. I don’t know for sure though and he says he will never tell me the price. That’s ok, though. I love my ring!
