I know all 3 of the groomsmen. Originally they were my FI’s 2 best friends (I consider them my friends as well) and FI’s brother (who lives like 5 streets away from us). Well one of his friends just left for boot camp so FI’d dad is stepping in for him. So I know all the groomsmen very well and consider all of them my friends. They’ve all met my bridesmaids a few times too.

@wisher558:  I know all of them. The Bridesmaid or Best Man is FH’s best friend of 11 years, 2 of the GMs are FH’s brothers, one Groomsmen is FH’s brother in law and the other guy is FH’s best friend of 7 or 8 years. We live with one of the brothers and the friend of 7-8 years.

Everyone in our bridal party is a mutual friend except for my GOH who has simply never been in the same location with Fiance long enough for them to be friends. They have met though. I met my GOH at college when Fiance and I were in a LDR and he moved to Switzerland before my Fiance moved to MN.

@wisher558:  I met two of DHs groomsmen one time before the wedding and one of them I met for the first time at our rehearsal that morning.  They were all great, I had no issue with the fact I didn’t know them. They’re DHs closest friends, but since they all live far apart and have their own families it’s difficult to get together.

One of DHs groomsmen didn’t bring a date and didn’t know anyone other than Darling Husband and his family. It was fine.  He made friends with the bridal party and other guests.

The best man is FI’s best friend, so I know him pretty well. His brother is a groomsman and we’re not close but I definitely know him and his family. The third groomsman is a friend of FI’s that I’ve met a few times. I could probably pick him out of a lineup but I really don’t know him that well at all.

Fiance knows two of my bridesmaids – my sisters – very well. He has met the other two but since they live in other states he hasn’t really gotten a chance to know them.

@wisher558:  FI and I have known each other since starting high school. Any potential Groomsmen I’ve known just as long as he has. He has no childhood friends because his family is military and he didn’t keep up with anyone after moving. He’s not even planning on inviting anyone from before he moved here.

I know two out of the four very well. The Bridesmaid or Best Man is FI’s close friend and we’ve spent a lot of time hanging out with him and his wife. Another Groomsmen is FI’s brother and I know him pretty well though he lives in NYC so we don’t see him as frequently as the rest of the family. The other two Groomsmen are FI’s cousin and another friend who I have met once. I don’t know them well but figure they’re a big part of FI’s life and I’m sure I will get to know them better as time goes on.

@wisher558:  nah. just friend him and then message him and ask ‘what size pant are you again?’ or ‘do you have any song ideas for the dj? I’m can’t think of any!’ to start a conversation and then go from there.  (it can totally be a made up question like ‘is your tux order for the grape tie or the violet tie? SO’s looks more blue than purple!’ or something like it) start to like his pictures, comment on a few things, post something about the wedding as it gets close and tag him in it.

and voila! you’re friends!

FI’s brother is his best man, and he lives 1500 miles or so away, I’ve only met him and my Future Sister-In-Law once in 5 years of dating. It should be an interesting weekend…him and Fiance don’t get along, so I’m thinking once the ceremony and small dinner is over, we’ll be going our separate ways.

@wisher558:  I know them all. The only one I’m not 100% comfortable with. He is cool though I have seen him several times.

For my FI’s Groomsmen we have his best friend (Who I love and know really well) his 3 brothers (1 who will be 14 at the time and 2 who are older but the oldest one is kind of a douche) and 1 of his friends its torn between 2 but if it ends up being one of them he will have a groomsman that absolutely hates me but has been in FI’s life since he was 10.

2 of them I met the day they got into town for our wedding. 2 others I had met once. I didn’t end up spending much time with any of them, or anyone for that matter, with all the wedding hoopla, so it was nice for my sweetie to have the guys of his choice.
