My orginal sapphire was 6mm so I think it was like .30 or something like that? Besides aren’t we the one’s that say “size doesn’t matter”? Haha. Wink

I don’t know either…I really love my ring…it was his mother’s ering…So, regardless of the size it is so special and means so much to him, I could care less about the size…

I do. Right after my Fiance proposed (or rather, right after I got done hugging and kissing him and remembered there was a ring in his hand), I looked at it and asked if it was cushion cut (we were on the beach at night– super hard to see!) so he told me yes it was and told me the weight of the center stone.

The weird thing– imo– is that he was super secretive about the cost/quality of it. He just told me it was “excellent” quality but didn’t really specify more than that, and he wouldn’t let me have the GIA paperwork to give to my insurance guy to get it insured (he emailed a scanned copy directly to him). It wasn’t that I CARED but I thought it was weird it was a secret. Particularly once I got the insurance paperwork back with the specs on it (he didn’t realize they do that I guess?) and found out that it was of way better quality/appraised for higher than I would have expected. I would think he’d want to brag! heh.

No idea, and it doesn’t bother me either. I know where he got it from (we had to resize it because the silly boy didn’t know my ring size) so if I wanted to I could totally find out. I’m guessing somewhere between .25 and .50 of a carat. It’s perfect for me and that’s what matters.

I do.  He told me without me asking, as well as all the specs of it.  I would have asked if he didn’t tell me though…I don’t know why it would need to be so secretive.

I don’t know either.  Fiance jokes around and calls it a half carat, but it’s probably somewhere around 1.25 carats.  He gave me the papers, but I haven’t really been all that curious to look at them, so they’re just sitting there.

I do. We went looking at stones together, and I have the GIA certificate.

@Rosie- what info did you use to insure it?

I know because I picked out the setting, so i knew exactly what that was. When i asked him what the stone was (a cushion, but i’d never seen one in person before) he told me it was a 1.00 cushion. We took it in to get all appraised so it could be insured, too, and I have all the GIA paperwork.

Very shortly after he proposed, he said, “Don’t worry, it’s fully insured” and then gave me the specs (size, color, clarity – the whole shebang) on both the main stone and the side stones. And I promptly forgot everything he told me, since I was busy staring at my new ring, going “Ooooooh, pretty and sparkly.”

We picked mine out together so I knew everything- his price range, etc- and picked my own diamond!

I don’t know how big it is or what it cost.  My fiance has offered to give me the papers, but for me it is not important to know.
