I was never asked but even if I was, I personally wouldn’t feel comfy allowing that. Why? I have no idea.

    To each their own, though.

I don’t let others try it on because it weirded me out at first and when I told Fiance, he said “Absolutely not!” lol But I guess it makes sense b/c the ring was more important to him anyway and I think men have a romantic notion of it being on your finger and no one else’s 🙂

Yes all the time!! its not a big deal at all!!! Who really cares I just take it as a compliment because they want to try it on because its so pretty. I have two really good friends that I see all the time and they ask to try it on everytime they see me and one of them is even married. I’m more then happy to let someone try it on if they ask…well of course i have to know them.

If they had a legitimate reason to (I once asked a friend of mine if I could try on her wedding band because I thought it would match my e-ring and I wanted to see how it looked).  She was happy to let me try it, and now we’ll have the same wedding band!

On another note, when we first got engaged and people were checking out my ring, it really bothered me that they touched the ring & diamonds on my finger to move it around to see all the details.  I didn’t want them to get their dirty fingerprints on the ring!  I could have easily turned my hand to show off the details!

I let my best friend try it on all the time! She loves to see how it looks on her finger…I don’t mind at all, I am very flattered that she thinks it is so beautiful. I have let most of my friends try it on…and my mom and I even switched rings for a couple of hours! I am not superstitious and pretty relaxed about that sort of thing.

I never take mine off.  Not ever.  I would never let someone try it on.

I think my ring is gorgeous and am very proud of the lovely job my Fiance did with it so for a while I had no problem with letting my frineds try it on. UNTIL one of my friends started looking at it super close up in every single direction and screamed out “OH MY GOD IT”S GOT A FLAW”. She made it sound as if she had discovered a huge flaw as if my Fiance had duped me into thinking my ring was perfect or soemthing. I took my ring right back, rubbed off the water stain she had mistaken for a flaw, and vowed never to let anyone try on my ring again.

Many girls honestly just want to admire your ring, but after that, if my friends want to try on an engagement ring, they can go to the mall.

I have let my girlfriends try it on. I don’t see anything wrong with it. There is one friend that has tried it on multiple times on multiple occasions. I may just start saying no to her next time….

Haha, my mom & sister put mine on a lot. I’m not worried about the “bad luck” thing though because my parents have been married 30 years, and my sister is also engaged.

As far as friends go…only a few who are super close to me have asked because they know I wouldn’t care. My best friend asked sometime earlier this week if she could put it on. I think it brought her good luck because she got engaged last night!! 🙂 Just kidding, I don’t really believe in the whole luck thing, but it definitely didn’t hurt anything!

I’ve let a bunch of my friends try it on. Not like they’re gonna steal it or anything!

    How do you say no?

I’ve never asked someone nor would I ever. I will ask them to move their hand closer though so I get a full view lol!

My boss has a 2 ct princess cut that she lets everyone try on (my coworker wore it during a meeting one day for the whole meeting!). So I’ve tried hers on but I don’t know how I’d feel about letting others try on my ering (when I get it) lol.

I think I wouldn’t want them to because some people just can’t say nice things, you know? And it would really REALLY hurt my feelings if someone tried on the ering that SO saved up for, picked especially for me, and gave to me as a promise to love me always… and said something negative! Like that it was kind of small or something, you know?

Akennedy01 – Yup, I totally get you, hence my story above. It was very hurtful! And, how to say no? I just say “I’m not comfortable taking off my engagement ring but you’re welcome to look at it on my hand”.

I have, but I don’t really like when people ask.

I have really small fingers (3.75) so my ring wouldn’t fit any of my friends. I would be okay with letting my mom or grandmother try it on because their fingers are about the same size.
