Aww so cute! Our dog isn’t allowed on the coffee table but I can usually find him there when I’m not looking…he thinks its his own personal island in the middle of the living room…and he usually searches for food on it…

Have any cat owners tried using the Ssscat system to train their cats to stay off the counters?  I have no cats, and therefore no personal experience with it, but people on another forum I read recommend it.

My cat tries, but when he does it he gets doused by the spray bottle, so he has stopped. My dog can easily sniff the counter with all 4 paws on the ground, but he doesn’t, because he knows better! No counter surfing in my house, that is too gross (not to mention incredibly annoying).

@sweetpea87:  I was one of the ones who said I tried to train my cats… But I didn’t say it was just “okay” for them to do it… The get knocked off as soon as I see them up there and then the counter gets cleaned… 🙂

We generally discourage our cat from being on any high surface except for her window seat and the couches. She still sneaks up onto the counters but she is quickly scolded for it. She used to be allow on top of the cupboards, but I got sick of the cat hair falling all over my counters so shes blocked from that now.

No our dog stays on the floor. I would have a hard time saying no to your cat though, he is very cute!

We have no choice… Cat food and water on the counter

Smokey will not be able to eat, there is no other place where we can put her food and water, where it will be safe from greedy dogs.
