Like it - no guess work in where to sit

    Hate it

    Doesn't matter either way

I wouldn’t like it… assigning tables seems like plenty.  I think it’s a little “forced” to try and direct specific people to talk to each other beyond putting them at a table together.

I plan on doing assigned seating at my tables. People will feel comfortable sitting next to someone they know they can talk too and we plan on mixing some of our families so they can get to know each other. People can move around if some people do not show the day of, but since I’m a control freak I love the idea of assigned seating.

Doesn’t matter to me either way. I wouldn’t mind assigned seating, but I wouldn’t necessarily follow it, haha. When given the choice, guests will sit where they are happiest and most comfortable. They don’t need the bride to pick for them.

@ribbons: Did assigned seating actually foster conversation at your wedding? As a quiet person, I’m not going to do much chit chatting if I don’t want to, regardless of my seat (and especially if I’m not comfortable with the people I’m sitting with)!

@MissAdventure:once again Miss Adventure you are on point! I think the wine charms are a great and useful idea! I know I hate losing my drink at parties…

I’m having long tables and doing assigned seats just to make sure couples aren’t split up. I don’t care if people move around but at least there’s no confusion in the beginning. It’s not like I’m going to go around and check to make sure everyone is in their assigned seats. I hate having to stake out a spot at a table or watch the seat next to me like a hawk if my SO is off getting drinks.

We are doing assigned tables. We are having long tables.
I’m torn about actual seating though. I think the parents should be close to the couple and I wouldn’t want people rushing to the reception area to grab seats.

Our venue requires assigned seating – it has to do with meal selections etc. I have no problem with it. I would have preferred to just assign tables and not actual seats, but it’s not that big a deal to me.

I think that this is a good idea. I mean, I think the industry standard is to assign them to a table anyways. As a guest, I wouldn’t mind if that’s where the bride/groom had me. Once I attended a wedding where there was NO SEATING – it was like a mad dash and free-for-all. So stressful as a guest. Whew!
