i’m surprised to hear a lot of people don’t like them, i love them!  i’ve always thought they were really cute at weddings.  i’m with you on them not being too long, i think that’s true of anything though.  short & sweet =)

I think they’re cute. I like seeing pictures of the couple when they were little kids, especially if the slide show is clever and well-done and ties things together well.

I also totally love them as long as they’re not too long.  I say if you’re hitting the 10 minute mark, you have lost people.

We’re doing one but showing it at the rehearsal dinner b/c my mom thinks they’re “tacky”.  Don’t know where she got that idea!

I think they’re fun at the reception, but I really don’t like them during the ceremony itself.

I like them when they are going on during the reception without making everyone sit and watch…like on a screen throughout the night. Does that make sense?

I don’t really care either way. I don’t mind them, but I could do without them. I prefer them if there’s something else to do while it’s playing (like eating).

Love them! Keep it a decent length though, or you will lose your audience.

I love them.  I think they either need to be kept to a reasonable length though, or if it is really long it can be played over and over away from the dance floor and people can look at them as they wish too rather than a ‘we’re playing our slideshow now’.

@Cappugcino: I agree, at a reception it is more appropriate.  Like you mentioned anything over 6 minutes is to  long, and please do not add the same picture over and over for next 5-6 minutes.

What makes it fun is writing captions at the bottom. What I plan to do is add pictures of my husband that he is unaware exist (no not those dirty picturesLaughing).

Please remember to add pictures where you are not all glam up as well, it makes slideshows more believable, rather than one that shows you all dolled up and dressed up life is not like that at least for me. I added pictures when he woke up, him eating a candy bar and having chocolate teeth when he said cheese.

I love them, but either they need to be short (like the 5 mins you suggested) or they need to be “background” where people can look at them or not look at them as they are talking or dancing or whatever.

We had one, but it was 25 mins and looped and played as background so that people could watch or not as they wanted and/or when they wanted!

We had ours and it was longer that 5 minutes to be honest, but it also had Sienfeld clips in it 🙂

I’ve honestly never seen one at a wedding, nor would I expect to see one. I’ve only seen them at funerals, and no one ever complains about the length.
