financegal87 : I would also go with a bigger tile, maybe a plain (light) subway so it plays off the granite instead of competing with it. I personally can’t stand the glass tile mosaic backsplashes that everyone is installing nowadays. I think they’ve outdated quickly and are just too busy.

As a PP has said, have you considered subway tile for your backsplash? I am always drawn to it, I love it.

missimagination : If you want to add lightness and color but don’t want to have too much grouts, how about quatrefoil or fish scale tile.

thanks everyone! I decided against the backsplash. It’s a good deal but at the end of the day I just don’t like it for the kitchen. We are looking at some beige subway tiles.

It is not my taste. I am not a fan of brown tones in general.
