I’m not talking a few beers or a few glasses of wine. Do you ever go out with the intention of, “I’m getting drunk tonight?”
I don’t. Like ever. For me, the consequences of being drunk (i.e. hangover) just aren’t worth it.
Recently, my friends have been giving me hell because I really don’t go out much anymore. I realize that I am an 80-year-old trapped in a 28-year-old body but going out with a bunch of drunk chicks just isn’t fun for me. I usually either end up taking care of them, annoyed at them, or annoyed whilst taking care of them.
I am all for a nice dinner and a few drinks but going out bar hopping just doesn’t appeal to me anymore. Am I abnormal? Do most people (who drink alcohol) go out with the intention of getting drunk?

I don’t drink… so I don’t know why I clicked on this thread? LOL

Yep! But it only happens a few times a month!

Maybe a couple times a year (if that) do I get all-out drunk. Not to the point of getting sick or needing assistance or anything though. I’m not in college anymore (and it rarely happened then either).
But even when I do get drunk, I don’t do it via bar-hopping (which I have zero interest in). It is usually at a friend’s wedding or when we have a party of some sort at our house (so I don’t have to worry about getting home).

I like to drink, but I don’t like to get drunk. But I don’t think I’m 80!

I have gone out with that mindset. That being said, I regretted that decision the next day, every single time. Now, I stear clear unless I am really feeling like letting loose, which does happen from time to time, but not very often!

Every once in a great while we’ll go out and I tell him “I’m planning on drinking a lot. Be prepared to drive.” since I mostly do the driving. It’s maybe once every few months. I just down a bottle of water and take two Aleve before falling asleep.

Used to, but not anymore. When I was single and out running the town with the girls we used to, but now it takes days to recover and just not worth it. When we go to DHs home town we usually tie one on pretty well. That small town bar is just so much fun and we kind of get wrapped up in seeing everyone and everyone is buying shots. Man, the drive home the next day is rough though.

I do every now and then, but more because I LOVE cocktails than because I desperately want to get drunk, if that makes sense.

I dont do it often maybe 1 or 2 times a year and I have only regreted it once (my last birthday) up until then I had never had a hangover now I just hope I never have one again lol!

I still like to get drunk every now and then (I’m 25 if that matters). A few years ago, I was getting drunk a few nights a week while I was in law school. Now I usually keep it to a few glasses on wine on the weekends, but sometimes I like to get drunk, especially during football season. I don’t get realllly drunk so I’m miserable the next day. Usually chugging some water and taking a few advil before bed is enough to curtain any headache in the morning.

I love to drink! Just don’t have the money to do it that often. I do plan to get crazy drunk tomorrow for my birthday lol.

I do. It is rare that I actually do it but every now and then I plan on it and enjoy it while it is happening. Afterward is a whole different story.

@risingsun: Haha. I meant that as a joke. I also don’t act like I am 80. I like going out and having a few drinks (I love craft beers and good wine) but I don’t like getting drunk or being around a bunch of people who are. I would be more apt to go out if my friends could just control their liquor.

Pugs are cute…but Pomeranians are cuter. 😉
I get drunk (really drunk) in Vegas only. That way I have an excuse for my crazy behavior. Otherwise I’m too worried about someone seeing me do something stupid or whatever I have to do the next day to really enjoy it.
