I’m from the south and I’ve only had it hot once, when a friend was actually making it herself. Most of the time it’s always cold, and I prefer it that way. If I want something hot I’ll whip up some mulled wine!

@MissMarple: Soy nog can also be bought 🙂

@AB Bride: I never thought about alternatives! Thanks for the suggestion. 🙂

@Creiddylad: I’m also a fan of hot mulled mead, and Irish coffee. Hot booze has its place.

@MissMarple: That sounds awesome! I think hot cider is underrated. A friend of mine made moonshine he called “hot apple pie” a couple of years ago, and I’ve been yearning for it ever since.
@BriansBride: You can heat it in a pot for the family, but you have to stir it to keep it from developing a skin. Or just put a cup or mug in the microwave for one person.

I’m drinking some now, cold with rum.

@christineandjohn: Originally from the South as well. Everyone I know drinks it cold.

Just tried it warm, not too bad. It reminded me of hot chocolate. I think I prefer it cold though.

I VOTED COLD (What is this HOT stuff ?)
Cold with Spiced Rum & Nutmeg… yum-yum
The ONLY Hot Eggnog Flavouring I know of is Starbucks Eggnog Latte
And that is just flavouring…
How in heck does one heat up Egg Nog… the stuff is made from REAL Eggs afterall… wouldn’t that just curdle it turn it into scrambled egg mess in a mug.

On the otherhand, as I am Canadian and live in a FRIGID Climate, I can definitely applaud a great HOT Beverage … lol, many of them that include Alcohol. Something about December thru March and Mulled Red Wine – Hot Toddy – Hot Buttered Rum – Irish Coffee etc.

Ice cold! I didn’t know drinking it hot was a thing..

I never heard of it being hot, but I won’t touch it either way. To be fair, I’ve never actually tried it, but I can’t bring myself to touch the stuff.

Cold, all the way! I never knew people even drank it hot… hmm. That being said, the rum I mix it with keeps me nice and warm, LOL!

@This Time Round: I’ve been thinking thru this whole thread…. Wouldn’t you get sweet scrambled eggs?!?! hahahaha
So yeah, cold for me. Never heard of it hot.
