JenGirl: I’m a Jennifer too!
My parents gave both me and my sister (Katharine) long names so if we wanted to shorten them we could. I now go by a mixture of names…I am Jenny to my friends but if I was to introduce myself to someone in a formal situation then I use Jennifer (there was a time as a teenager that I was always Jenny). I also tend to refer to myself as Jennifer on paper, unless conversing with friends.
As a child I was very much a Jennifer at all times. If anyone called me Jenny it was usually met with an angry response of, ‘My name is Jennifer!’

My name is Ciara (pronounced Keera). Ive never really liked my name. In Ireland it was really popular and I was always one of 3 or 4 in my class. And When I go abroad it’s mispronounced. When I worked in the US for the summer I was called Sierra. I want to choose a well known but not so common name for my child.

Mine is Allison. I didnt used to like it, but I like it now. Its not my favorite name, but I couldnt imagine being called anything else. My middle name is Brittany, and I would HATE if that was my first name.

My name is Anne. I like it okay, but I’ve gone by Annie since I was a little kid and I totally love Annie. There aren’t many people my age named Anne, so I always thought it souded kind of old-lady. But my godmother’s name is Anne and she’s the best person ever. I write Anne for official things, but anyone who knows me even a little bit knows I’m an Annie. And I like the way it’s spelled. To me, Ann looks so incomplete.

Zenia: Mrs_Purple: Add one more Z name to this page! Love it! My name used to be very uncommon, but it is growing in popularity. When I joined facebook I was one of the first. I will give you all a hint: starts with Z and is the name of a popular clothing store 🙂

My name is Maria. I’m from Greece, and it’s VERY common here, so growing up I wished I didn’t share my name with other 3 girls in my class. Now that I’m older though, I like the way it sounds. My mother on the other hand has a more unusual name and told me she always wished her name was Maria like everyone else.

Mine is Kirra. I was named after a semi-famous surf beach in Australia. While it’s not a highly unusual name, the spelling is. I’ve never come accross anyone with the same spelling as me. Also, I work for a state government (think several thousand employees), and I’m the only Kirra, regardless of spelling.

I like mine (Lauren) just fine. Although it’s funny, I grew up middle-class in Oregon and Wyoming and then went to an elite East Coast college. Growing up, I knew maybe a couple other Laurens in all realms of life. Suddenly at college, they were EVERYWHERE! It messed with my identity a little bit to go from having a relatively uncommon name to one of the more common ones around. I guess rich white East Coast people having babies in the early 80s really liked the name!

lavenderstone: I don’t love my name. Going into the delivery room, my parents were set on Charlotte for me, but no one else liked it. My mom couldn’t seem to pull the trigger on it, so while she was in labor, they went back to the drawing board. Her favorite show at the time was “Days of Our Lives” which happened to be on in the delivery room and she suddenly had an inspiration and named me after one of the characters on Days of Our Lives. So, no, I don’t like my name. I went from Charlotte which, back then, was pretty uncommon and is so, so pretty, to being named after one half of a “super couple” of DOOL. Not happy, haha. And my name is fairly common, especially growing up I heard it a lot.

OneDayMrsL: Lol, Canadian here. I know lots of Devon’s, all boys haha, I do know one Devin… apparently with the ‘i’ it’s more feminine. Lots of Shannon’s too, all girls! That’s so funny!
I HATED my name growing up, I used to beg my parents to change it to Kimberly (the pink power ranger, lol). I’m happy they didn’t because now I love my name!
