What a sweet story!!
My first name is Tara and I love it. My parents named me after a character from an Australian TV show called Return to Eden, not Gone With the Wind like everybody assumes. It’s pronounced Tar-ah, not Terra but I get the latter a lot. I’ve learned not to let it bother me over the years (but it annoys me when I introduce myself, and you still pronounce it wrong). I used to not like it when I was younger because all my friends had “normal” names like Stephanie and Michelle (pff, Full House!) and I wanted to be named Samantha. But I really really love it now. I think it fits me perfectly. Originally my mom liked Mindy and I’m sooo glad she changed her mind!

There is no significance with my name other than my dad wanting to name me Carrie Ann. So my name is Carrie, middle name Ann. I liked alright growing up, but always imagined my name to be Tracy or Stacie. As an adult I really like my name. In high school some of my friends would call me carebear or carrieberrie, which has continued into my adulthood.

I love my first name. I think it’s really classy and it sounds great with my new last name. My parents did an excellent job choosing for me. I also like the nickname associated with my name, and use them both interchangably. DH likes to call me by my full name, because it has always been one he’s been fond of. My parents almost named me Selena, which just doesn’t seem like the right fit for me. I’m glad they went with their other choice… which sorry I’m not going to post it bc then my first and last name would be available and I don’t want any internet stalkers, lol.

My name is Amanda, and I like alright. I always got the Amanda jokes, though. My uncles personal favorite is to tease me my middle name should have been “Lynn” so I could be Amanda Lynn( “a mandolin” if you say it out loud).
Which sucks, because my family is big about middle names and pet/nicknames. The nickname my family calls me by is atrocious, and I would never post it online haha. If anyone is ever around my family, they probably think we are half crazed beings because no one really goes by their given name… everyone has some form of a nickname– even our pets. It’s actually pretty ridiculous.

I didn’t like my name growing up but I like it more now. It’s Riley. I’m the youngest of 4 girls and we all have unisex names, so I would have been Riley whether I was a girl or boy. I never had to worry about having several classmates with the same name but none of my teachers knew how to spell it.
The name Riley has definitely gained in popularity. My niece has 2 friends with my name, both girls.
When I have kids I am thinking of names where you don’t have to guess if the kid is a boy or girl!

Amber. I don’t care for it… but it seems unique enough that I don’t really run into too many people with the same name (which i think would be annoying) without actually being unusual or ever misspelled so I guess it’s alright. Amber’s are always portrayed as the “mean girl” in tv shows and movies it seems.

My name is Brittney. Growing up, my family always called me Britt. My mom usually calls me by my first and middle name. In high school, my friends gave me the nickname Bee and have used it ever since.
I know so many girls with my name, but not the same spelling. Even still, teachers and annoying kids in my class would call me brit-tan-ee. ugh.

I used to love my first name, Tia. It’s short and sweet like me. lol. But now so many people name their daughters Sh’Tia, La’Tia, Fa’Tia etc…I used to love my name because it was unique, but now I all the time get asked “What’s your name short for?” Nothing. I am short and my name is short, but it’s not a nickname. It’s my name.

My name is one of the most common middle names out there. My whole family (my mom grandma sister and half my cousins) has my name as a middle name.
Marie. I bet a lot of you have my name as a middle name as well. I don’t meet many Marie’s though so it’s been ok for me. Although I get annoyed at always having to say “no it’s an e at the end not an a”. People always try and make me “maria”.The other common mistake is that people try and make me Mary instead of marie.

Mrs_Amanda: whenever I hear amanda I think of that scene in “can’t hardly wait” where peter facinelli’s character is talking to jennifer love hewitt’s character in front of everyone at the party and he’s like “UH-MAN-DUH!” LOL. so in my head I always say that when I hear the name amanda. that was my best friend in high school’s name actually.

Haha I know an Amanda Lynn. She plays up the whole “a mandolin” thing.
