im having a small, very intimate ceremony in Ireland. Everything will be very low key, with the ceremony outside in Wicklow most likely and then grabbing some food and drinks to celebrate after in Dublin! Our actual ceremony will only have about 10 people including our officiant who is a friend but we have some friends coming out to Ireland to celebrate with us for after the ceremony at dinner and a few days before we do our honeymoon in Galway. I’ll wear a dress and we want beautiful photographs by our photographer, but since I’m coming from the US I looked into a wedding planner. Basically she would act as a liaison between us and vendors as well leading us to those vendors (giving us multiple suggestions and then we make the final choice). She charges 1200 for the service, but I’m torn if I really need it or if I can just go wherever my photographer will suggest…. has anyone had a VERY simple elopement style wedding out of the country and not used a wedding planner? If you did, was it worth it?!

I will say I am having a big destination wedding in Scotland and I am only hiring the coordinator for the day of. It’s a personal thing on if you think you can find and trust your own vendors overseas. Do you already have a photographer? Friends in ireland? You might be able to just use them as resources

- Wedding: April 2017 - Sunset Beach Resort, Siesta Key
Could you possibly do a little more research and see if you can find anyone cheaper?
Like the comment above, you might want to go with just the day of coordinator and try to communicate with everyone via email, phone?
I have a day of coordinator here and am still really doing all of my vendor communication via email and phone for the most part!

I would absolutely use one for a wedding in another country & $1200 is a good price.

I have a few photographers I really like but I waited to contact them until I got a price from the planner because that would be in her realm. I could definitely do the research (I have top places for everything so far) but since I’ve never been to Ireland, I think it may be helpful to have someone who is from there giving me suggestions. Such a silly, hard dilemma!!

if it’s in your budget and is going to make you less stressed, then absolutely go for it

do you need a wedding planner? no
our hotel provided a day of coordinator. that person made sure everyone knew where to go, things ran smoothly, etc. i would more vote for a DOC, than a wedding planner. do you need someone to plan your wedding?
