@OneOfTheseDaysAlice:  Ahh this. I’m just not around kids that much (and never wanted them until I met FI). I do like kids/think they’re cute/want to play with them when they’re around me, but…cats and dogs are just SO CUTE.

Dont let any previous ambivalance towards other people’s kids put you off having your own!!

I am happy to hold other people’s babies, and I often work with kids; and they can be great… but I don’t want one of my own.

I see a dog in one of my favourite breeds and I feel the “want” pangs, I walk through the pet section of a store and think about buying and hoarding away puppy things “for the future”…

YES. I do go nuts over the tiny babies of friends and family, but that is multiplied by 100 when its a cute big dig.

I ooh and aah over babies for like 5 seconds and then I get bored with them. Newborns especially.  Like my coworker, who is also a mother, said, newborns are like goo. They’re just there. And they look funny. I’m expecting my first early next year, because I always wanted kids to be a part of my family. You know, the walking, talking, saying cute things, being excited about Santa kind of kids.

DH and I oogle over our cats every single day. Every time they do something that looks cute, which is like 50 times a day, we melt.

I oogle much more about cats and dogs than babies, especially our 5 kitties. I find babies boring. I would much rather have fur-babies than human babies.

If I see a dog crossing the street a block away, I think, “Awww puppy dawwwwg.”   I hate babies, never want them, never will have them… so.. needless to say, I think it’s perfectly normal to be completely ambivalent about babies.

Babies FREAK me out. My Fiance thinks they’re adorable and will find pictures of them and go “Awww…isn’t he cute??” and I’ll just look and go “Ew.” Haha, no maternal instincts here. Zero zip nada. Will that change? Who knows, but for now I’ll take a puppy any day :)))

I adore animals.  Babies not so much.  I feel awkward around them.. like I don’t know what to do.  I’ve never felt an inkling of “maternal instinct” towards a baby.

I will be the first to admit this is me 100%!! We don’t want kids, and don’t really prefer them.  In fact, I’ve often surprised myself by just how much I DON’T notice kids/babies in public.

Animals, on the other hand?  Obsessed.  Dogs, especially.  I always, always notice dogs and their breed and their actions, etc.  I always want to pet them!

I have discovered this about myself in the past few years: I am one of the (fewer) humans who really things they care (for lack of a bette word) more, deep down, about animals than they do humans.  I can’t explain it.  Of course I care about people in need, in crisis, etc (have volunteered and donated money to different things such as red cross, american heart association, etc).  But, I am much more passionate about putting my efforts and monetary donations towards helping animals…I guess because I feel like animals are much more helpless and innocent and if it weren’t for the smaller (in relation to human-aid/resources) group of people who are generous and dedicated to donating time and money to the efforts of animals, so many more would suffer like homeless, abused, used-for-research dogs.  They just don’t have any advocates if it weren’t for humans who love animals.  I’m probaby crazy, though!  Please don’t judge/hate me!
