You mean like social media pictures? No, and I’d think they were awfully vain for taking the time to bother with it. If it’s just random facebook pics, there’s no point, and if it’s for a resume or a dating site or something, you’re just deceiving people at that point. (Not you personally, the general “you.”)
Wedding/engagement pictures one could probably ask their photog to do it but wouldn’t you feel weird, like they’re not really pictures of you?

I dont photoshop my photos to look thinner but different camera angles/heights can make a huge difference to how you look in a photo. I think it would be alot of effort to photoshop someone to look thinner & it might look a bit unnatural maybe

I went to an art school so TONS of classmates were good at photo-manips. one classmate was a real genius with it; in real life she was overweight but when I first added her on facebook I had no idea it was even her! she looked really, really good in ALL her photos (all edited), like, supermodel-thin with gigantic boobs and sharp face, perfect lips etc. she even has a cult-like fan-following, hahaha. I was pretty put off but hey, it’s her life; if it makes her happy to maintain this skinny online facade then all the power.
I can kind of do it but I never bother. it takes a lot of time to do it right, with no trace of the editing. it would be way too embarrassing to get ‘caught’ editing. pay-off not worth it (for me)!
all you need is photoshop and the liquify tool, mainly. also patience.

Almost every Asian girl with a smartphone does this! There’s a ton of apps available for it – one’s called Photo Wonder – there’s a lot of functions but one is the Beautify function which allows you to make body parts thinner, eyes bigger, complexion more glowy etc etc. It doesn’t look particularly natural (obviously not as sophisticated as Photoshop) but it’s so common in this part of the world. Every Instagram photo you see of an alabaster pale, ultra-skinny Asian girl with giant anime eyes has been altered.

@peonyinparis: I agree, its part of the world we live in now. I wouldn’t judge anyone that decides to photoshop/photowonder. Just keep the originals in case you ever change your mind about the whole thing.

I’m a partime photographer and I won’t lie, if a client wants me to pull/tuck a few things in, I don’t mind doing it. It’s not really that hard if you know how to use photoshop.

I know that Miranda Kerr does! I just read an article about her big scandal with photoshopping her photos thinner. I personally don’t photoshop my photos because I just do not care, but I know pleny of people who do.

@SamanthaLovesJames: I don’t bother trying to photoshop/edit my pics to make me thinner, but I have been known to tweak a picture to smooth out a blemish or 2 before, especially if I was in breakout mode around that time of the month.

I don’t but I will admit it, I totally would under the right circumstances. I’m very broad shouldered and some pictures make me look big. I also have a square jaw that at the wrong angle makes my face look weird and fat. If it was going to be published somewhere and I knew how to do it, yeah I would. I’m vain and mildly insecure. I’m ok with it.

This is just a random wedding photo online but is an example of how I tweak a few areas if the bride asks for it.
