MEEE!! I have a Ford Escape and I absolutely love it! I have had it for almost a year and so far I have had no problems with it so I don’t know how much things cost to fix. I don’t think it is an unreasonable amount though.

Mine is an ’08, so a bit older than what you want but it is 4wd and in the two times we got snow this winter so far it handled perfectly! Mine is called Sage but I don’t really see any green with light interior cloth seats and a sunroof. I wanted black at first too but I had a row of colors to pick from and black was not one of them.

I really do love my car. It is the perfect size, gets great gas mileage for an SUV, I do mostly around town driving and I get 22-23 usually. I still stare at my car and talk about how aborable it is.

Oh! It is also comfortable for a long car ride with 4 adults in it and all their stuff!!

I will stop gushing now..

@AnneTossy:  The back row is smallish compared to my Dad’s big truck but I was coming from a 2 door Nissan Sentra so it is huge to me haha! Although the tallest adult I have had riding back there for a long trip was 6 ft and he was fine. I feel like the back “truck” area is a good size as well.

My insurance when I went from a very old (10 years or more) FWD Nissan to the 4WD Escape only went up $3 a month! I was shocked. And then when my insurnace re-newed it dropped $14 a month so I might have had some new discount in there somewhere. But my overall experince is that if there is an insurance increase it is not too crazy.

I feel really safe in it. Like I said I had a small 2 door Sentra which was so tiny before my Escape. I never felt safe in it and I would try to never have to drive in snow. I feel much safer in the Esacpe especially with 4WD. I grew up with a family that always had trucks and SUVs so I have always liked them better. I feel better in snow. I also feel better in traffic, I feel like people take you more seriously in a bigger car lol.

I don’t have any thoughts on the Escape, but I have been seriously looking at Edge’s and Fusions. I am having the exact same debate with colour. I always wanted black but I think the white has won me over.

Anyway, what I wanted to say was I was I really want leather because of my dogs (well its pleather/vinyl really but whatever) but the one car I was test driving was perfect except it was cloth. So I contacted Ford and found out that I could have the vinyl covers put over the cloth. They are made to fit exactly for the Fusion. So that may be an option for the Escape. The price wasn’t too bad either. $200 for the front and $200 for the back. I’m sure it would cost more in the Escape but it might be worth looking in to if they do it.

Also, seat warmers can be installed in the the cloth seats. That was another feature I wanted. I was quoted $90 a seat but he’s a friend so I’m not sure if that was a deal or not. So little things can always be changed. GL!

I own one (it’s a 2005, so quite a bit older, but I still love it).  The one thing to keep in mind is that the regular maintance will be more than you are used to- oil changes for 4WD are higher, and when you need tires, they are usually higher than sedan’s also- just something to keep in mind.  As far as repairs, I haven’t had to do anything besides the scheduled tune ups, I take my car to the dealership for all work- I have found the dealership I use is the same price as most other places, and this way I have an established relationship with them.

Have fun shopping!

I had a 2003 Escape 4wd. LOVED it and never had any problems with it. Driving a bigger SUV right now and will probably actually switch back to an Escape soon. Its the perfect size…lots of room but not too big and bulky to drive. And good visibility for an SUV!

Ahhh! I love your car! The Ford Escape is the next car I want to own. I know two people who own them, and they absolutely love them. Very reliable, low maintenance…all sorts of good things. Plus, I love the color you chose. Fiance and I will be ready to trade in our cars soon (him probably earlier than me), and I’m hoping that we’ll replace one with a Ford Escape. Congratulations on your purchase!
