Silly topic but it was recently brought up in my life. At a friends house and she went to the bathroom with the door open. I was a little put off because I would never consider doing that and she said “When you’ve been in a relationship as long as I have you just get comfortable with stuff like that.” Which just made me laugh because I’ve been in a relationship about 3 years longer than she has, and I still dont pee with the door open, but whatever. I said “Yeah but you’re not in a relationship with me.”
I get that its a comfort level thing so I was curious how the bees were.

Ew no no no. I’ll pee if he’s in the shower (we only have one bathroom, and I’ll go in there usually only if I can’t hold it until he gets out) but never in front of him If that makes sense? Haha and def never in front of guests

Some things are better kept private.

No way! I had to get over running the water so he couldnt hear.

I usually close it. I had a roommate who peed with the door open though, so it doesn’t really phase me, and if I’m with very specific girlfriends (and when alcohol may or may not be involved…) I don’t mind going if the door is open. But I like to keep some mystery alive between my husband and I! 🙂

With my fiance -door open, heck I’ll pee while he’s in there brushing his teeth (and he does the same). Tthis stemmed from necessity as we only have one bathroom and both get up and get ready at the same time.
With anyone else, door closed.

Never. And I actually turn the water on so he can’t hear me….even in the middle of the night. We are pretty private about any bodily functions….I’ve heard him fart MAYBE 5 times and I will laugh and call him out on it…and he DENIES IT. Which makes me laugh even harder.

I pee with the door open at my parents house, my BFFs house and at both Fiance and I’s houses. I guess we’re just open people, my family all pee with the door open too. I don’t think it’s gross at all, it’s just a normal bodily function. My BFF shared a tiny dorm room, two twin beds with about 4 feet in between. After a year of that peeing in front of eachother is no big deal. And Fiance and I just aren’t the type of people who are worried about mystery, we’re both human and aren’t worried about keeping anything private. He likes to come into the bathroom and chat with me, regardless of what I’m doing, and I don’t mind one bit, and will do the same with him. It’s definitely a comfort level thing, although for me it’s more about the comfort level of the people around me, I only leave the door open with my BFF because I know it doesn’t make her uncomfortable. I would be fine with the door open with any of my friends, but I’m not sure if they’d be comfortable with it so I err on the side of caution.

I pee with the door open whenever I feel like it with Fiance around…sometimes I feel like closing the door, whatever. I have friends who I’m comfortable with and we can share a restroom in public or at home, but they are the few friends who I’ve known since we were young girls.

very rarely, usually only if i really have to go. my husband, on the other had, has no problem with it.

Lol I was really close with my friends and college roomies…. I guess I lost the care for peeing privacy, I just don’t care if the door is open.

Darling Husband and I always leave the door open at home. We will do anything in front of the other, there is no mystery in our relationship and it doesn’t bother us. It hasn’t killed the romance at all.

a_day_at_the_fair: Nope. It’s not about embarassment or discomfort. I’ve gone on hitchiking holidays where the only option can be peeing by the side of the road and you just risk that cars are coming. It’s more like, we share everything else. We both deserve privacy in this area. Sharing “everything” doesn’t mean you’re any closer.

Both Fiance and I have sometimes left it open when pee but that’s it. It’s just a thing – I did it initially to train him to put the toilet seat down when he was done – that if he didn’t I would pee with the door open. Now it’s just if it happens it happens but we don’t purposely do or think about it. But that’s just with him and I everywhere and everyone else is closed.

I’ve peed when people have been in the same bathroom as me, so having the door open certainly isn’t an issue. I really don’t care when it’s in front of Darling Husband or my three best friends. Except for those few, I’d close the door always.
