I almost always pee with the door open unless we have guests over or something that may just wander into our bedroom to find the bathroom since we only have one right now. I don’t mind peeing in front of SO, and he pees in front of me too. Lately he has even asked me to sit on the bed while he uses the bathroom because we can see each other, and he likes to “chat” LOL…so gross.

I usually always close the door. I even find that I close the door to pee if I’m home alone and know I will be home alone. My family is what Fiance lovingly refers to as a “closed door family” meaning we are private about things (such as changing, toileting, etc.). I had a roommate in college who peed with the door open all the time, regardless of who was over. Fiance will pee with the door open regardless of who is home. I just can’t do that. I pee in front of Fiance sometimes, like if we’re both getting ready for work or he’s in the shower, so that isn’t an issue, I just like the damn door closed.

Our bathroom door doesn’t always latch very securely, and we have pets (including a large dog), so sometimes we find ourselves peeing with the door open involuntarily!  After a while, we just got used to it.  Now we both do it on occasion, but it’s not a consistent thing.  And I will pee with the door open around a couple of my very close female friends (ones I’ve know for 15+ years, and one of whom I’ve been sexually intimate with), but otherwise, the door is closed for urination.

We’ll both pee when the other is in the shower if we need to, though.  That’s a symptom of necessity, as we have only one bathroom.

I almost always do. But I also grew up with an older sister, who’s main goal was to invade my privacy at all times lol. So yeah, we’ve been through it all, she will even drag me into the bathroom with her while she has to poo to talk. I don’t really care anymore, but it also depends on which bathroom I’m in, our small half bath under the stairs has to have the door closed or it will be hitting my knees Lol. But the one in the master, the toilet has seperate door so I usually leave that one open, the small space kinda gets to me… Fiance will sometimes close the door, but it’s mostly a leave it cracked kinda situation.

Nope. I don’t mind if my close friends or Fiance are in the shower when I’m peeing, or vice versa, but really peeing isn’t a spectator sport for me, kthnx. Lol.

I will pee outside, I will pee on the side of the road, I have no cares in the world, but the whole damn world doesn’t need to see my butt.

Interesting topic! DH and I both use the bathroom with the door open unless we have company over then that’s a different story.

I definitely think there are certain things that should be done in private and going to the bathroom is one of those things! The only time I leave the bathroom door open is when I’m at home alone and the reason for that is that my small kitty will FREAK if I close the door on him (it’s OK when my husband is home as he can provide the attention while I’m gone).

I only do when I’m home alone (I have a cat who is OBSESSED with being in the bathroom with me and if I shut the door, he scratches it), or with my Fiance in the shower if I REALLY have to go.

Only if DH isn’t home and it’s just me & the dog (I even sing her a funny little bit about peein with the door open since she can’t not be all up in my business). My mom however has zero shame and has peed with the door open for as long as I can remember. Like even when we had friends over, and the bathroom is at the end of the main hallway so as soon as you walk into the house you can see it all!

My husband and I pee in front of each other all the time. I wouldn’t do it with any of my other friends or family though. I don’t think it makes us closer, though-that’s weird. It’s just something that evolved out of circumstances of us living in small 1bed-1bath apartments through the years. If there was always a second bathroom available, I’m not sure if we would have done it in front of each other or not.

This reminds me of the How I Met Your Mother episode where Lily and Marshall have never peed in front of each other in the 8 years they’ve been together. They get trapped and she ends up having to pee in front of him. They’re not happy about it, but the world doesn’t come crashing down either.

If I’m the only one home, I’ll leave the door open or at least cracked so the cat doesn’t scratch up the carpet (she doesn’t like being shut out of a room we are in), but if DH is home or guests are over, the door is shut. Part modesty, part habit.

If it’s an emergency, I’ll use the toilet when DH is in the shower – only one bathroom right now.

in our last apartment, the bathroom was attached to our bedroom. so i rarely closed the door. i just closed the bedroom door.

now, we don’t have an ensuite bathroom. so now i close and lock the door when i’m in there.
