I prefer one. A bungalow. I grew up in one and have tried living in a two storey. To me- I didn’t like the seperation… everything felt disconnected.

Right now- in my area. Bungalows are all the rage. Whenever one goes on the market it gets eaten up right away. Whereas a two storey sits about two months longer.

I guess it depends on your area. I’m sure the ‘it’ bungalow will be replaced with a two storey being more desirable sooner or later.

ONE story! We bought a story and a half and so our bedroom is upstairs (it’s an attic converted to a bedroom). The stairs are steep, I have to vacuum them (not easy), and there are stairs going to the basement as well. It’s a lot of lugging stuff up and down stairs on laundry day. Believe me, I dream of a laundry chute!

I prefer one-story because I didn’t like the constant dealing with stairs when I owned a two-story.  Our new house is one-story, approx 1,700 sq feet, high ceilings, open concept, split floorplan.  I love it.

I’ve always wanted a home with the bedrooms upstairs so that children can be sent to bed and have a quiet space and parents can remain up and enjoy some alone time or, if there are parties/family gatherings happening, the party can continue on the lower level without disturbing those who want/need to get some rest.

My mother lives with us and preferred to have a room on the first floor so we’ve actually got the best of both worlds (for us). Her bedroom on the first floor and all the others upstairs.

I prefer 2+ story homes. Even our apartment is across two floors 😉

Two. You can have your living space and then an area where you sleep, shower, get ready, get frisky, etc.

punchberry :  I prefer a 2 storey, but we just bought a split entry/raised bungalow.  It’s probably the most common style of house around here.  We wanted a 2 storey but they were out of our budget in the neighbourhoods we like.

After living in a 2 story I prefer 1 story by a mile!! Half our furniture only just fit up the stairs…it was a nightmare moving in. Gets way too hot on the second story and we have not bathroom upstairs. I think maybe it’s just this house I hate! If it had wider stairs and a bathroom upstairs then it might not be so bad having two stories but FIs dad is in a wheelchair and he hasn’t been able to come visit because the house isn’t wheelchair friendly ☹️
