He picked it out himself, and right after giving it to me he said “I made sure I can return it if you want to go get something else.” But I truly love it!
He spent hours researching and going back and forth between stores – the one he decided on is a 1 ct. round brilliant solitaire on a platinum band from Bailey Banks and Biddle, which is the same store where my parents bought my First Communion cross necklace (aw). The other one he was stuck on was a 1.5 ct. white gold with pave diamonds along the band, but the diamond wasn’t as beautiful and he liked the heavier feeling of platinum. I’m happy he chose the smaller, higher quality one.

@MsHangry: Thanks! I love that you used a family diamond. I have a pair of earrings from my mom that are a matching set but not my style (solitaire pears) and I saw a ring at Tiffany’s where they used the pairs to accent the solitaire, so I may end up doing that later if I need a change. It makes it so meaningful! <3

I love my ring because it’s from him and I get compliments on it all the time. If I had my choice, however, I probably would’ve gone just a tad bigger (center stone with a halo and diamonds on the side, but the whole thing is under half a carat). We’re going to have to get a custom made band to go around the halo and we’re doing it all diamonds to up the bling factor. FI just told me the other day we’re going to order TWO bands, though, so I have one as an anniversery band! Squeee!!! I think with both bands my craving for bling will be more than satisfied!!

Fiance and I went ring browsing together to “get an idea of what I liked”. Every time they asked me which set I liked I kept going back to same one… Fiance went back the next day and started paying on it.
So, I’m a little spoiled, because I more or less got to pick my ring. Fiance picked out the stone and the way it was set, though, and I love it even more because of that.

I love love love my rings. Even two years later, I still get the “OMG! Your rings are gorgeous!” squeal all the time. Even from the ladies who work at Peoples Jewellers. 😀
I have a 1.6 carat ceylon blue sapphire with diamonds around it and in the band. My wedding band perfectly complements the engagement ring. The set is perfect for me!

i’m absolutely in love with my ring! my fiance did an amazing job finding a ring with my ‘specifications’ that i gave him. i told him a solitaire in white gold and if there were other diamonds they needed to be in the band. and he got me a gorgeous verragio ring. i literally just stare at it sometimes

I love what my ring stands for and the meaning behind it, but I’m not one to love my possesions, that’s the best I can explain it. I seem to be the weird one here….

I love mine…I originally wanted to just give him guidelines and then send him off on his own, but he basically went looking and then came back and said, “I don’t think you actually want what you think you want”- ie a cushion cut with a halo- and asked me to come try some on. Seeing them on my finger, he was right (I didn’t want a high setting or one that required a curved wedding band, so that pretty much ruled out halos). So we did some more searching and picked out the setting/stone shape together, and then he picked the stone on his own. It’s stunning! I was so touched by how thorough he was about hunting down a setting that was just right, and then the perfect stone (it’s an oval, which made that tricky). It’s perfect, and I can’t imagine loving anything more. So glad he made me help!
