I love having a moissy.  It’s pretty and sparkly.  I don’t mind at all telling people it’s not a diamond.  I don’t think it looks fake.  I’ve had many compliments on my “sparkly diamond”.

Are you thinking about getting one?

Absolutely no regrets at all! I answered no to every single one of your questions. (except, it IS holding up well. Moissanite is almost as hard as a diamond and more durable. Mine has been in perfect condition and I except it will stay that way for a very long time) It is such a beautiful stone and I love that it is a naturally occuring gemstone (in meteors) as opposed to completely made up by man. I know that my stone is lab created because Moissanite is too rare and can’t be mined on earth, but my Moissanite is still a real Moissy because it has the exact same chemical makeup.

Anyway, sorry that was probably too much info and not answering your questions haha. My point is that it is a beautiful gemstone, isn’t any bad color yellow (mine is an Amora so maybe that makes a difference?), has the perfect amount of sparkle, doesn’t look ‘fake’, and I don’t have a problem telling people it’s not a diamond. They are quite receptive, and interested and think it’s cool. In fact one of my friends decided she wants a Moissy for her ring as well.

I love my Moissanite! Best decision ever!

I regret all 3 of my moissanite rings, only because of the color and the weird refraction.  All of mine have been yellowish, particularly noticeable for the ones in diamond settings.   I keep buying new rings because I hear “oh they look so much better now”, etc, but nope, always yellowish.  I can tell in most pictures, too.  The double refraction also bothers me because seeing “hearts and arrows” or specific faceting in a true princess cut is one of the reasons I like diamonds and cz.   That is something that probably wouldn’t bother anyone else.

I bought my first moissanite ring only 3 years ago from MCo, by the way.  Only my cushion was super sparkly, the others are just as sparkly (or not, depending on how clean it is) as a diamond.  I think the durability is pretty awesome, no worries with that so far.

Zero regrets. I didn’t want a diamond and didn’t want to try to pass off my ring as a diamond, so all is well! I fell in love with moissanite when I heard about how it was discovered (the whole meteor story just appealed to the nerd in me!) and did a lot of research on non diamond stones for an engagement ring. It isn’t for everyone, but if you truly want it for what it is, you shouldn’t regret it!

No regrets, my stone is gorgeous. I love how much it sparkles. Sometimes it changes colors but I love that aspect as well. I can see the stone blue sometimes and yellow at other times but it is mostly clear, white and brilliant. The yellow kind of bothers me but not too bad. My Fiance really wanted to get enhanced Moissanite and it really makes a difference between unenhanced.

Sometimes I think about morganite because it’s pink and I love pink but I couldn’t imagine having a colored stone. My family is really judgmental and would have looked down on a gem/colored stone for an engagement ring, but I haven’t told them it’s not a diamond lol.

I do not regret getting one.  I don’t think it sparkles too much.  I don’t think it looks fake.  I just got mine, so I can’t answer how it has held up, but I’ve seen others who’ve owned them for 10 years and the moissanite is the same as the day they got it.  I debated a colored gemstone, because I wanted something different.  I don’t think it looks too similar to a diamond.  I chose moissanite, because I wanted a white stone more and I prefer lots of sparkle.

@dirtdigger:

Do any of you regret getting a moissy for your e-ring?  No. I should say my ring is still being made so my larger OEC is not set yet. I did just get my OEC pendant & studs today, and I have seen several pictures of my larger OEC in a mock-setting so know what I am getting. I have also been around a few OEC’s in real life, in addition to looking at photos and videos of them for the last two years or so.

Are you unhappy with the color? No. I chose unenhanced as I wanted a bit more warmth and so far am very pleased. They are still very white. I don’t like very colourless stones though and like a bit of body colour.

Is it too sparkly (does it look fake)? It is very sparkly, like lots of colours sparkly, but not too sparkly in my opinion. Like a fake what? It’s real moissanite. Real moissanite is sparkly!

Is it not holding up well? Moissanite is a 9.25 (or was it 9.5?) on MOH’s scale (so harder than sapphire which is a 9 and which many people, including myself, use in rings without issue). It does not discolour. It is actually, apparently, tougher than diamonds in that it is less likely to chip or crack if hit in particular ways (though diamonds are harder to scratch) – other gemstones can be tougher than diamonds though too in this respect. I am not worried about it not holding up for a lifetime and more.

Do you wish you would have gotten a colored gemstone? I had (well, have) a coloured gemstone and loved it. When I had to switch back to yellow gold I opted for a moissanite centre stone (with coloured accent diamond stones) as I did not want a blue sapphire in yellow and could not pick a different colour stone I wanted for life. I went with unenhanced as I do not like totally colourless stones.

Do you wish your ring didn’t look like a diamond for ethical reasons (aka: do you wish your ring said to people looking at it “I’m not a diamond”)? No, I don’t really care either way what people assume, but I do not claim it to be a diamond if asked or commented on. I do not try and pass it, but nor do I feel a responsibility to go up to every person I see just looking at it and tell them it is a moissanite as if they don’t realize that there are more white stones out there than diamonds, that is on them (there is white sapphire, white topaz, etc). I also don’t really think it looks like a diamond to those who know their diamonds and other stones.

Is there anything else you don’t like about having moissanite? Not so far!

I love my moissy! I tell people its not a diamond (everyone close to me and a few not so close people know) I bought Moissanite for a reason! I love the stone, I am not and have never tried to pass it off as a diamond. a few times in Icky lighting it looks a bit yellowish but not very often. but in dim lighting (bars/restarants ect) it sparkles like crazy and I love it! It doesnt look fake because its not fake it is a real moissanite!

I do not regret my stone at all. I absolutely adore it and admire it everyday. It’s beautiful, durable, and perfect. In fact, I am buying more moissys! Two .50ct equiv. to put on either side to make my solitaire a three stone AND a moissy eternity band. Probably some stud earrings too eventually.

Do any of you regret getting a moissy for your e-ring? Absolutely not, I love it!!!

Are you unhappy with the color? I really don’t notice any tinges, just gorgeous sparkle!

Is it too sparkly (does it look fake)? No one has even asked me if it is a real diamond (I would tell them), but the fact that they haven’t asked tells me something.

Is it not holding up well? I haven’t had mine that long, so only time will tell!

Do you wish you would have gotten a colored gemstone? No, I wanted a colorless stone, it was just a matter of picking out what stone I wanted.

Do you wish your ring didn’t look like a diamond for ethical reasons (aka: do you wish your ring said to people looking at it “I’m not a diamond”)?: Nope, I don’t care what other people think–I love my ring and that’s all that matters!

Is there anything else you don’t like about having moissanite? Nope! I have been staring at my ring non-stop since it arrived, and looking for things I didn’t like…I can’t find anything!

Do any of you regret getting a moissy for your e-ring?  nope, LOVE IT!!  Are you unhappy with the color? No.  While I have seen super white diamonds and think they look gorgeous, I love the tiny warmth my moissy has.  I think it gives it some “personality.” But overall, you really can’t notice much.  When we got the ring appraised, our jeweler gave us a lot of compiments on the quality of the ring.  He said our stone is very clear and near colorless — and a lot of diamonds he’s seen isn’t even as clear/colorless! (we didn’t buy it from him, so he was definitely giving his honest opinion) Is it too sparkly (does it look fake)? no. i LOVE the sparkle!!!  Many people have complimented the ring. And honestly, that’s part of the REASON I decided on a Moissy. and even someone who decides on a diamond is in it for the “sparkly” factor, so i saw this as a PLUS!  Is it not holding up well? it’s holding up QUITE well. I can be a little rough.. I’ve banged it against the inside of my car door and tables a few times.. on accident and it still looks perfect! Do you wish you would have gotten a colored gemstone? no. it’s perfect the way it is! I love how it’s pretty durable! Do you wish your ring didn’t look like a diamond for ethical reasons (aka: do you wish your ring said to people looking at it “I’m not a diamond”)? No. What I own/wear is my busines and my business alone. Is there anything else you don’t like about having moissanite? No. This is the perfect solution to our “diamond” dilemma and I plan on owning more moissanite in the future.  I probably will never buy diamonds again!

Do any of you regret getting a moissy for your e-ring? No. I absolutely love it.

Are you unhappy with the color?  No. My mom held it up next to her diamond and you can’t tell a difference. The ONLY time it looks a little yellow is when I’m sitting on my porch and my hand is close to the wood. It never takes the color of my shirts or anything else.

Is it too sparkly (does it look fake) No. My mom, and no one else, can tell that it isn’t a real diamond.

Is it not holding up well? Mine is holding up really well. I’m clumsy and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bumped my hand on things without any problems. No lose prongs, no chips, nothing. I’ve been wearing it for a year and a half.

Do you wish you would have gotten a colored gemstone? Sometimes I wish I had gone with a colored gemstone, but I’m really happy with my ring and I’ll get colored stones in my wedding band.

Do you wish your ring didn’t look like a diamond for ethical reasons (aka: do you wish your ring said to people looking at it “I’m not a diamond”)? No. I have no problem telling anyone who asks that my ring is a Moissanite.

Is there anything else you don’t like about having moissanite? There is nothing I don’t love about my moissanite. If I had to do it over again, and FH had more money, I still would have gone this route.

^nice format! I’m gonna copy it. 😀

Do any of you regret getting a moissy for your e-ring? nope, it’s perfect.

Are you unhappy with the color?  I got the mira (now called ‘amora’), and since it’s only half a carat there’s no color at all. no matter the lighting, etc, it’s always sparkling white.

Is it too sparkly (does it look fake) nope, it just looks like a better-than-average diamond. fooled a jeweler with a loupe + diamond tester, lol.

Is it not holding up well? considering it’s tougher than diamond, no problems here! bumped it, dropped it, scraped it everywhere. totally fine.

Do you wish you would have gotten a colored gemstone? nah, I like sparkly things, and colored gemstones lack that glitter.

Do you wish your ring didn’t look like a diamond for ethical reasons (aka: do you wish your ring said to people looking at it “I’m not a diamond”)? I’m quick to tell acquaintances it’s not a diamond, but I don’t care what strangers think. I might explain if I have time, but otherwise I just ignore them.

Is there anything else you don’t like about having moissanite? I have to say, the cut bothered me at first. the top (‘table’) is too flat, which I can notice if I pay attention, though I doubt anyone else notices. they’re coming out with new cuts soon, and I would love to get one of those in the future! for now though, I don’t mind it anymore, it reminds me of a dewdrop at dawn.
