The ring is on the way so I know that I have to start coming up with things that describes how I feel about her but I’m just really nervous it’s not gonna come out how I want it too.
My “proposal coaches” say that their boyfriends really messed it up by being nervous, picking a bad time, or just messing it up completely by doing something they didn’t find romantic…
Do you remember what your Fiance or Darling Husband said to you when he proposed or were you so focused on the ring that you didn’t hear?

@otto2008: I wasn’t focused on the ring but it was like my synapses were all firing at once. I was excited and nervous… and I was thinking a million things at once. “Is he really doing this? Can people on the beach see us? Did he ask my dad? I wonder what ring he picked. Will i recognize it as something I suggested? OMG this is happening. What is he saying? Shit! Remember what he’s saying! Why am I so cold? Is my outfit cute. God I hope my hair isn’t insane in this wind. Fuck! What did he just say? REMEMBER WHAT HE’S SAYING!!!”
So no… I don’t remember what he said. i remembered him saying my name and then pet names, but it turned out he said my name… “light of my life”…. which is not something he normally calls me. I’m pretty certain he actually said “will you marry me?” but neither of us remember that. And he says I said yes more than once… which makes sense because in my crazy head I wasn’t sure if I had said it out loud, so maybe I repeated myself.
All that said, you should plan something romantic and try to be calm and say what you want to say. In the end, she probably won’t remember every word, but she’ll be able to tell you put thought into it, which is definitely better than not.

I don’t really remember what he said…I was so shocked and thinking a lot of the same things the bee above said. I do remember what he said after I said yes, but during the actual moment it’s hard to focus on everything!
Good luck 🙂

He said… NOTHING!! LOL
He took me to a restaurant and had his niece call the restaurant (she was like 10 at the time, my Future Sister-In-Law actually made the call then put her on the phone) and the waiter brought me the phone, she asked if I would like to be her aunt. Fiance just had put the ring out for me to see lol. I knew it was coming, I had found out by accident, but the way he proposed was original and sweet. I loved it.

Fiance had ours recorded so I do know what he said but I’m not sure I was really focusing on him at the time. He had written and memorized a little speech and I think he actually got it almost word for word. He was definitely nervous but he said that having that prepared ahead of time was really helpful.

Word for word because it was so funny!
He handed me the box with the ring in it and said “I think you could use this.”
I couldn’t stop laughing and crying. It was perfect, totally us and totally unique. I will never forget it! After that he asked if I was going to pass out because I couldn’t catch my breath.

@renwoman: oh thats a nice way to do that! my gf has been dropping hints like crazy. I asked her what she wanted for her bday- she said a ring. lol

@otto2008: he asked me if I wanted to get ‘murried, like Bill Murray. I said no, but he could come lol. Then he asked if I would go to our wedding. I think he might have said some other things, but I know he was really nervous because his proposal plan got a little messed up and he ended up doing it spur of the moment in our apartment.
I actually wasn’t sure if he was proposing at first, but then I said yes and he was like “oh did I just do it?…well in that case…” and then he got down on one knee and said “will you marry me?”
So I got the goofy proposal that was very “us” and the formal proposal that I hoped for…it was perfect 🙂
To answer your question…I remember most of it, but he definitely said a few things that didn’t quite stick. I wasn’t distracted by the ring because he didn’t even have it out until he got down on one knee. And even then I didn’t pay attention to the ring until after he’d slipped it on my finger. Him asking was the important part, not the ring.

I only had eyes for him. The ring didn’t matter. He simply asked if I’d marry him, and I told him I’d marry him every day of my life.

I knew my proposal was coming down to the minute. I was still so excited I was getting proposed to I barely remember what he said. My brain started going fuzzy once he got down on one knee and then my vision got a little blurry. I just remember being happy as a pig in mud 🙂
Fiance was extremely nervous, he was shaking so bad and I don’t think he really knew what he was saying either, haha. I loved it though.

I remember exactly what he said. We were on vacation on the east coast and had just stepped into the Atlantic for the first time. After we got out, he said “I’ve taken you from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean, and now I must ask you a question…will you marry me?” It was perfect and so cute.

He was super nervous. It was adorable. The funny thing is that we walked along this out door display and I was super convinced that he was not planning anything. He said something like “you know how important you are to me…” which I thought meant he wasn’t going to propose and then he just kneeled down on the street and choked. Sort of perfect.

Something something best friend something wife something life something something…. Will you marry me?

@otto2008: “Should I make a speech?”
“Ok. Will you marry me?”
I am 100% serious when I say that is exactly how the conversation went. He was down on one knee with the ring out and I could tell he was nervous and felt weird being on the spot (it was just the two of us at home together). Afterwards, he gave me the biggest hug and whispered, “I’ve been wanting to ask that for a long time.” And then we said we loved one another.
I did know ahead of time that he was proposing that day and it would be at home. He wasn’t sure how to actually ask, so he had me help him come up with ideas. He planned out a nice lunch at a restaurant that has pictures of my favorite dogs everywhere, got us chocolate at the store he used to work at, and then asked when we got back home. Absolutely perfect day!
(P.S. I knew what the ring looked like because I went to the store with him and he showed me which one he choose because he was excited; lol!)
@renwoman: Love it!

Oh, I remember.
We were on a public overlook above our city (Pittsburgh) and I was feeling dizzy and nauseated.
When I turned around, he was on one knee and said, “before you throw up, will you marry me?”
