If so, where were you and what was your reaction? Did you know it was your baby or did you pass it off as gas or something of that nature? I ask because I hear the first movements feel like bubbles/flutters.

I felt mine for the first time when I was in Las Vegas for work in May! I had treated myself to a giant plate of berry crepes for breakfast even though I NEVER eat sugar in that kind of quantity … so I was just walking around and suddenly my lower abdomen felt like a washing machine. I didn’t really have the little bubbles or the “is that baby??” moments — I just went from nothing to BAM full-on frothing baby somersaults!!! I was 18 weeks.

I’m at 29 weeks so I can still remember the initial movement. It was right around 20 weeks for me (I’m a FTM) and it felt like someone very very lightly poking me on the inside for a brief second or even a very gentle, soft tickle. I do feel the flutters though but it wasn’t like that immediately for me. The gas bubble feeling also was not immediate either. I definitely did not think it was gas or anything else.

I first felt the baby at 16 weeks when I was at work. I was bent over charting and I felt tapping just above my pubic bone.

First felt at 17w5d sitting on the couch! I never really had butterflies but went right to kicks. Husband could feel them at 18 weeks… And I have an anterior placenta so I consider myself very lucky!

16 1/2 weeks. I was standing on a line and it felt just like little bubbles. I knew exactly what it was. It took another few weeks for the bubbles to feel more like thumps.

I remember the “bubbles” but they didn’t amaze me like his first real kicks. He kicked so hard that my laptop actually bounced! Definitely not gas! That was at a little over 16 weeks.

I don’t remember. :/ I assumed it was gas for probably a week or more before I accepted that what I was feeling was baby. I do remember that Darling Husband first felt her move on January 1! (She was born in May)

I felt my first flutters at 14.5 weeks. I was in absolute disbelief because it’s kind of early for your first baby but it was in a spot where it couldn’t be anything else. I remember giggling because it felt so strange…it was wonderful. Now at 23 weeks there is absolutely no doubt when bub is moving around and it definitely couldn’t be described as flutters!

I had what I assumed was gas for 2 weeks before I had the undeniable kicks start at 15 weeks. I was actually sitting in training for work! Made the day more interesting 🙂

I’m 17+3 today, I felt the first flutter at 13+5. Amazing feeling 🙂

I was around 17 weeks, I think. But I have an anterior placenta so I don’t know if that made me less aware of early kicks.

@future_mrs_sommer: I had been feeling what felt like a fingernail scratch me from inside for like a week at 18/19 weeks which I didn’t know what it was until my Mother-In-Law said that was the baby! Okaaay but it still didn’t really feel like anything imparticular. Then at 20 weeks I felt what felt like bubbles popping a few times, and I kind of thought it might be a kick but still wasn’t sure. Then halfway through week 20 I felt definite kicks and started to realize it was the baby and no more guessing. 🙂

Around 15 weeks I felt a goldfish doing summersaults in my belly. It honestly felt nothing like gas– I knew exactly what it was. I was just laying on the couch after dinner when I started feeling her move. The first kick was also pretty obvious. That was around 16 weeks. The placement of the kick and the sensation (unlike any other) made it clear that my daughter had just kicked me. Now she throws dance parties throughout the day, but at the beginning, I only felt her laying on the couch.

I’m just curious. I am 13 weeks and my doctor said I should start feeling movement in 3-6 weeks. I’m afraid I won’t know what it is. Lol.
