We had a very small wedding, so that helps, but I remember every little thing we were gifted.  My brother got married 6 years ago and when we visit and eat he stills says “this is the silverware you got us!!”

Sort of. Like I know what items around the house were wedding gifts, and while I could rattle off who they are from, I don’t remember everything that we got.

@bebero:  I remember because my mom freaking took inventory of all my gifts from the bridal shower and the wedding…she’s done that my whole life. If somebody didn’t give a gift, she made sure to tell me >.< I’m just glad she hasn’t brought any of that up for months. yeesh.

Also, there were less than 3 dozen people at the shower and wedding.

@MsGinkgo:  haha if my parents don’t give me a birthday card I remember that for the rest of the year, especially with my mom because she makes such a big deal out of cards being given to her and written out all sentimental-like. I was really sad/annoyed that nobody in my family gave me a graduation card just because I graduated in the Summer due to a technicality and couldn’t walk the ceremony. Seriously, even a cheesy stuffed penguin with a graduation cap on it or something would have made me feel nice.

@bebero:  We had 130 guests and I have a ridiculous memory. Yes, I remember who gave us gifts, what they gave us, who gave money, who gave just a card and especially those that gave nothing at all.

i remember, but it’s not like i’m keeping score and i don’t begrudge anyone who didn’t give a gift. i just have a good memory and i’m appreciative of every gift i receive. every time i use/look at something, i remember where it came from or who gave it to me.

I was terrible at that. yeah certain things like the kitchen aid or a book. but i should have been way better at writing who gave me a check 😛

I remember the shower gifts, but I dont remember who gave us how much money at the wedding. However, I DO remember the one couple that gave nothing, not even a card. And wouldnt stand up when I came to their table for hugs/to say thank you.

I don’t remember every single person one way or the other and I certainly don’t remember things like “amounts of $” or anything, but I do remember certain people who didn’t give us anything at all. I am of the belief that a card goes a long way, and when people couldn’t even stop at the dollar store and get us a card I noticed that.

Like other posters, I kept a spreadsheet from my showers and the wedding to keep up with thank-yous, so obviously that’s when I noticed.

The only particular person/couple that it bothered me with was a couple who we had spent probably $75-$100 on their gift just a few months prior. That was a major, “WTF dude” moment.

@bebero:  Presumably you will send a thank you card to every single person who gives a gift, so more likely than not yes, you’ll probably remember.  Unless you are Chelsea Clinton or Kate Middleton, I think you can remember who gave you a toaster and who didn’t.

We did know because of the spreadsheet we used to keep track of gifts and thank you notes. However, only one stands out to me that I actually remember. The rest I could look up now but I don’t really care about it enough to do that.
