This is probably silly, but it seems like I see my wedding dress everywhere on this site!
Which is kind of a duh, since it’s a wedding site.. But I feel like I see my dress sooooo much & I’m worried it won’t be as special since so many people have it.
But at the same time I realize that’s stupid because none of my guests are searching the boards & looking at dresses….. And the chance of my female guests having this dress, or even seeing it, is super low.
So, do you see your dress a lot on other people? How do you feel about it?
Since someone is probably curious, this is my Maggie Sottero Marianne:

cls9q: Someone I knew back in high school had the same dress as me when she got married a couple years ago. Fortunately we’re different body types so the dress looked very different on her than it does on me. There’s also not many pictures online and our guest lists won’t overlap much, so I don’t think anyone will make the connection. I do think I’d feel awkward about it though if we were better friends or getting married closer together.

cls9q: Your dress really is everywhere haha. I just accidentally found another thread where someone was posting pictures of themself in it. You’re right though- your guests probably aren’t looking at these boards so they aren’t being bombarded with it like you are.

I haven’t seen my dress on anyone, at least not recently. Granted, it is out of a Maggie Sottero collection from a few years ago. Still on the website. I have the opposite problem, I see quite a few dress twins on here, but not mine, which makes me think “is it that awful that nobody else chose it?!”
I have seen your dress on here quite a bit, bit not too much, the one I have seen the most of is similar to Maggie Sottero Dynasty (looks like a rose in the skirt ruffles). For the most part, I think dress twins just reiterate the fact that it is a beautiful gown. It looks amazing on you.

I acknowledge it’s an egotistical, vain thing to care about…. But I like to keep my style original. With the exception of classic pieces, I like a fresh, fashion-forward look so that would also bug me.
For sure, no one else notices.

I only know of one other poster who has the same dress as me but I never seen it anywheres else. Got tons of compliments on it at my wedding, especially from my photographer! (:

MrsBuesleBee: Right? I kind of wish I would have picked a less popular designer so I didn’t have a dress that so many others have. But oh well, I love my dress!

You know, I keep searching for my dress on these boards because I can’t decide what kind of jewelry and veil to wear. I was hoping to see how other people have accessoried it!

cls9q: and really that’s all that matters. And it can look totally different depending on how you style it. And doing things just for the sake of uniqueness can really backfire!
In the end you want people saying “what a pretty bride”. NOT “How…. unusual”.
I offen hear people wanting to be unique.. Have things others don’t have.. Etc etc.. with cars, clothing, etc.
how I think of things like this is… If I love it I’m gonna get it wether everyone on the planet has it or wether no one has it.. And other people having something you have.. Well it just makes it that much better because you know people love yoor dress.
having a dress that you love that other people have is better than settling on a dress that you don’t love just because no one has it.

Nope. I haven’t seen anyone else with the dress I wore. I saw one person who tried it on, but she didn’t end up getting it.

cls9q: My dress is a style from a couple years ago that Allure happens to still be making, so I haven’t seen anything like it recently. That being said, even the older threads didn’t have that many people in it. Also, not a single person I know that got married wore anything at all like the dress I have.
ETA: If my dress happened to be more popular on the boards then it wouldn’t matter to me. Id anything it may give more ideas as PP stated lol! The only thing that really matters is that you love the dress. You can make it your own by having different accessories and veils. It won’t look the exact same on you as someone else and I don’t think anyone will compare yours to someone else’s (unless they are a jerk)

cls9q: no, i have never seen anyone with my wedding dress and I feel 2 ways about it – 1) i feel like it truly is a unique dress, I’ve never seen anyrhing like it 2)a part of me feels like its an un-popular dress and I dont know if that should make me happy or feel bad lol
Post # 14
Nope, but mine is DB, so not a popular or trendy designer. It’s beaurtiful to me, but it’s also pretty simple.

that just means it’s a gorgeous dress!!! lol. fwiw, i’ve never seen it before and i’m on these boards a lot.
i have the same dress as my photographer (she’s getting married in Sept’14, and i am in Aug’15). Ain’t no thang, it’s just the best dress ever.
