Yes! We’ve been together for 15 years – and from the moment we started living together (college) I’ve bought his clothes. Now…if he’s out and needs something he gets it. But generally speaking, when he needs clothes I go get them. He’d rather chew his own arm off than go shopping. Yes, he’s a little picky when it comes to some things but I know his preferences so I buy accordingly. The only thing I never buy him are jeans, he has to do that himself because he’s SUPER PICKY about jeans.
When he does go buy clothes he usually asks me to come along and help tell him what looks good…but I usually end up remembering how much I hate going with him because we can go to so many stores and sometimes he won’t get anything because he’s just too picky! He gets stuck on an exact vision of what he wants to get and can’t find it. Men! lol
Only as a gift or if I see something I think he’d like and it’s a great deal! I wouldn’t trust him to shop for me either except for an occasional gift!
I buy most of my husband’s clothes, but he’s very easy to shop for. Most of it is long sleeve button downs, polos, jeans and khaki shorts from American Eagle. lol.
Oh gosh yes. My husband would be living in awful cargo shorts and ratty t-shirts if it weren’t for me.
I buy my DH’s clothes. I am a Stay-At-Home Mom so I have lots more time to shop than he does. The exception is when he bought 2 new suits earlier this spring. But for regular office clothes or casual clothes I do the shopping.
For basics, he has a certain “model” of everything that he prefers and buys the same exact thing over and over. So when I think it’s worn out it’s easy to replace. I do it often because our definitions of “worn out” are pretty different and if it weren’t for me he’d be wearing basically scraps of fabric. So I do buy socks, underwear, undershirts, and even jeans. He doesn’t like most kinds of shopping, but loves clothes shopping as long as it’s for himself! So I leave it to him to choose the rest. Luckily he has good taste!
Thanks for all the responses! I decided to go ahead go shopping this afternoon for him and I was somewhat successful! Haha. on his way home from work I told him I got him a few things. Some shorts and a few shirts and his response was “well shorts are easy enough because I only wear khaki shorts” so I told him I got him a blue pair and a grey pair. And he was skeptical and even told me he didn’t really like them but he would try them on and once he did he really liked them! A couple of the shirts I got him were too tight in the arms so those will have to go back but overall he liked what I got. I love shopping and really enjoyed shopping for him so I’ll probably go for him more often.
No, I don’t buy him clothes unless it’s for Christmas or something. He likes to shop, and we also like to shop together. I love picking things out for him and having him try them on. He usually buys what I pick out even if he initially objects when I show it to him!
umm hell no haha I’m his fi, not his mom. He’s a. An adult and can handle buying his own clothes, esp socks underwear etc. and b. He’s pretty stylish and into having custom fit suits etc. so likes picking out his own wardrobe. We will sometimes shop together and ask each other for opinions/make suggestions if we are in the same store but that’s about the extent of it.
I’ve always bought his clothes for him. He loathes shopping. Luckily he doesn’t have expensive taste.
No, he’s a grown man and he can dress himself. I’m not his mom. Pretty sure he’d be pretty ticked if I went out and started buying clothes with him…thats treating him like a child in my opinion.
I don’t get the “he doesn’t like shopping” excuse. I don’t like shopping so I just go online, or buy multiples of something when I find something I like. No big.
Dh is ok shopping for underwear and socks. Pants are ok – he usually wears khakis or jeans to work. He wears polos for work and is pretty good at picking them out. But as far as button down shirts – he needs my approval. He brought home 2 the other day that were sort of hawaiian print….but they were hideous. He couldn’t see anything wrong with them. They made me want to vomit just looking at them. lol. SO YES…DH shops for himself but always asks my approval because he just has no fashion sense sometimes.
