I do, but we (Mr. Lox and I share the same stylist. True fact.) are also inviting her to the wedding. So we’re kind of friends after knowing her for so long.

Wow, I’m really the only one that picked no?

I am antisocial, have no small talk, and can’t hear a damn thing through the blowdryer anyways so I grab the first magazine I can and try to avoid conversation as best as I can.

@meliss: I picked no too :). I’ll answer questions directly, but I can’t continue a conversation once he/she initiates it. I’m sure they’re lovely people, but I just never know what to say! I’m a really shy person.

I do if I go to my “regular” stylist that I’ve gone to for almost 7 years. However, since I live farther away, I’ll go get trims at the local places and try to keep up the small talk but sometimes it’s just awkward. I think if you have a relationship with them it’s different.

I try, but I have really bad communication skills (help? lol)  so our convos are usually pretty short and about the weather or styles or something funny.

YES!!!  I’ve been going to my hairstylist for about 18 years now!  She’s become a great friend and was in my wedding!  Smile

my stylist moved, but while she was here, we talked the whole time (other than blow drying- i like to talk, but i don’t want to SHOUT in a spa! lol). i tried a new girl, whom i did NOT like, maybe our talking distracted her & that’s why my hair sucked! haven’t been back to her. i don’t usually feel weird talking while getting my hair done, my nails on the other hand, i often do. a lot of the time, the girls at the nail places (where i’ve gone) don’t speak much english and they often just talk to one another & i have no idea what they’re talking about & just sit there hoping they’re not talking about me. i was at the spa today & talked the whole time besides during a facial. i’m chatty!

I have been going to my stylist for about 2 years now so I’m pretty comfortable with her. She will ask me about my personal life or things I’ve told her about in the past, I’ll just keep talking. Haha. If it was someone I was just going to for the first time I would probably be quiet and wait for them to initiate conversation.

I connected well to my previous hair-dresser.  She was a few years older than me and got engaged while I was engaged.

I recently changed hair dressers, and… it’s a struggle sometimes.  She knows that I work in the medical field, so she has a tendancy to talk about her health problems (surgeries).  I tend to be very non-commital in my replies – I’m not her physician or therapist!  I’ve gone 3 times, but I’m kind of not wanting to go back because of the persistent conversations about her peronal life!

My mom is a hairstylist!!! So I talk to her all the time…. and she talks to ALL of her customers non-stop. You have to watch her because she’ll get so into the conversation that she’ll just keep cutting away (not really, we just make fun of her). Now that I have a different hairstyle that most stylists aren’t used to I go to a special salon. I don’t really like to talk, I just want to relax. Especially since it takes like 4 hours total… geez. But I only go like once a year if that.

I just recently in the past year finally found a cool stylist whom i feel comfortable around.  I was never the type to talk about things with a hair stylist or a manicurist. It’s not me. In fact, I HATE getting my hair done or having small talk with strangers.  But I LOVE my hair stylist now.  I don’t tell her everything, but we definitely talk and she’s amazing.  Pricey, but worth it.

Hmm.. I have had so many stylists, I realize that I usually talk only if they are the talkative type.  Usually though, I find the stylists I have are pretty quiet.. maybe they get the vibe that I’d rather relax? lol, not sure.
