Blushing bee
I am scheduled for a period while on my honeymoon. I am on aviane and have never taken bc back to back before. I get a pretty light period anyway but I still get bloating and irritability in the day or two before. If I skip my period will I not only not bleed but not have to deal with all the other stuff as well? It would be nice to wear a bikini and not feel like that.

I have been on BC for about 8 years now and actually skip every second period on the advice of my doctor (I get horrible horrible cramps, which the pill unfortunately doesn’t stop, so this was her solution). I never get any period-like symptoms (bloating, cramps, etc) during the time I’m taking BC.
I will note, however, that the first few times I skipped a period I did get some breakthrough bleeding (both times were about 2 weeks after I was supposed to get my period had I been having one monthly). My doctor did say that not everyone experiences this and it was very light, but still something to be mindful of I guess.

I get all my symptoms the week before my period starts so unfortunately I still get the bloating and mood swings even if I skip my period.

moonzie : I have only done it one time, because I would have had started my PMS symptoms the day we left for our honeymoon and ended my period the day we came back. So I took a risk and took my pills back to back. I didn’t have any issues with it!

before i went off bc to ttc i was on the patch and would regularly skip periods. i loved having periods only every 2 months instead of every month. my doctor said it wasn’t a problem at all. i only had a breakthrough bleed after about a year of doing this.

I skip all of my periods, always. I have no problems except breakthrough bleeding (accompanied by cramps) if I’m not good about taking my pill at the same time every night. Also, some pills are too low a dose to effectively prevent breakthrough bleeding for me. Highly recommend trying it though!

I was in the same boat! Instead of doing ‘back to back’ packs with no period, I planned ahead. Two months before my wedding I waited an extra week after my period to start my next pack and used backup birth control that month. I didn’t have a problem 🙂
