I voted yes, but ring is off more often than on when I’m at home.

Sometimes I take it off. If I forget, and leave it on during my shower, it always comes out super sparkly and shiny Laughing

I take mine off when I shower.  I have relatives in the jewlery bussiness and if they found out I don’t take the ring off in the shower, they would kill me…..totally serious.

I do. My ring is loose and it spins around like crazy when it’s all wet in there. Plus I kind of worry about soap/conditioner/etc gunk getting stuck in the basket. Oh, any time it’s off my finger it goes back into it’s box. That way even if it does fall in the toilet or something, it’s not going down the pipes. lol.

Nope, I rarely take mine off.  I work with chemicals all day so I do take it off whenever I put on my gloves, but that’s about it.

I bought a special pretty padded box with a lid (we have pets) that sits on my bathroom counter and holds my ring when I shower.

I pretty much don’t ever take mine off – except when I put on lotion or sunscreen.  I have a very simple setting with a solitaire and a tiny micropave band.  Can anyone explain exactly what is bad about leaving it on?  I’m pretty positive I would forget to put it back on and then lose it!

I take mine off to sleep at night and then put it on after I’ve showered and done my hair/make-up for the day. I also never wear it at the gym (sweat and swelling. ehk).

@JaneyD: There are all sorts of things that can happen to you or your ring if you don’t take it off to breathe a bit. Here’s a link that made me turn green, it’s been around the bee before. I think just the shampoo/conditioner/gunky product buildup is one reason to keep it off in the shower, that and my fear of it slipping off and down the pipes forever.

I dont take it off specifically to shower however a lot of times I take it off after getting home from work because Im doing dishes or cooking and then I dont put it back on until the morning right as Im leaving for work….so I already have my ring off while Im showering. However if I have my ring on when I wake up then I keep it on to shower.

I take mine off for every shower. My “safe place” is on the bathroom counter or in my jewelry box. People have told me that over time I will become more at ease with leaving my ring on for household cleaning and showers etc, but in the 9 months that I’ve had it I’m still paranoid!

But….I’m one of those girls who also had a “promise ring” before we ever got engaged (we’ve been together since I was in highschool). It was a simple white gold band with a little diamond. I NEVER, seriously never took it off for anything. I wore it for probably around 2.5 years, and there was never any harm done to it.

Just to be on the safe side though, I would continue to be cautious -but there’s no need to freak if you forget to take it off occasionally! Smile

(edit! okay…just saw the link that NDBee posted. Yikes…so maybe leaving my promise ring on through everything wasn’t so smart. I did have it cleaned regularly though, if that counts!)

I take it on and off all the time, but I don’t like to do it in the bathroom because there are too many drain holes it could fall down in a very small place.  I usually move it up a little so I can was the spot underneath.
