How bad is it to leave it on all the time? I’m surprised so many take their rings off to shwoer and sleep! I tried that in the first few days, but twice I forgot to put it back on when I left the house and that upset me! I now leave it on all.the.time. Is it that bad??

I take mine off for cooking/baking, cleaning, and showering. I just love wearing it and feel naked if I dont have it on. I do flip it around at work when I am dealing with patients since I have to put gloves on and I dont want to puncture the latex.

I take mine off basically just to clean it & when I’m cooking something messy (if I even remember). Otherwise, I LIVE in it, sleeping, everything & I hate taking it off 🙂

Wow, I did not think so many people take it off. I assumed that it always stays on and I am just weird that I wanted to take it off. Last night I got to my FI’s place and made dinner which involved stuffing mashed potatoes with ground meat (messy), so I took my ring off. During dinner Fiance noticed that I was not wearing it and asked me about it.
Now I wonder, what do our FIs think when we don’t have the ring on.

i sometimes use my ring as an excuse to make my fiance do the dishes 🙂 “but honey…. i’d have to take my ring off to do that…why don’t you just do it tonight…”

@Imagelicious: The few times I’ve ever taken mine off & forgot to put it back on, Fiance has gotten paranoid that I’m mad at him

I literally only wear mine when I leave the house– I take it off as soon as I get home. I had some problems with my stone popping out and we have been having issues getting it insured (several long, boring stories) so I just try to minimize potential I will lose my diamond. I’m not home all that much but when I am I’m cooking, cleaning, playing with the dogs, etc.

never- my ring stays on my finger, im terrifed i will lose it

The only time I take it off is if I’m putting on lotion and maybe if I’m doing a heavy duty oven clean. I pretty much wear it all the time though. I feel as if it’s safest when it’s on my hand, so keeping it there gives me peice of mind! I’m scared of the cat swatting it somewhere while I’m in the shower or of it falling out of place if I put it somewhere while I’m working out.
ETA: I do briefly take it off if I’m kneeding dough or making meat balls or cookies with my hands so all that gunk doesn’t get caught in my ring.

I take it off as soon as I get home. Don’t get me wrong, I love to wear it. But I also want be able to maintain the quality of it (even my jeweler will clean it annually and any time I need to). I hate doing the house work with the ring on, feel like I’m ruining it. My Fiance actually prefers me to take it off at home too. He is thinking the same way I think.

I take mine off only when:
3) when I do my makeup
When I realized I forgot to put my ring back on and If I left my house… I turn back to go get it. I feel like the world needs to know that I am taken!

I usually take all other jewelry off right when I get home, but my e-ring stays on much longer. I do take it off when I go to bed, shower, use lotion/gel, etc. Usually stays on while I’m cooking, unless I’m kneading bread dough.

Like many others, I take my ring (and watch, for that matter) off as soon as I get home and don’t put it back on until I am heading out. I learned the hard way with my promise ring that if I don’t have a specific place that I ALWAYS leave my ring I will leave it anywhere-next to a sink drain where it could fall in, in a pocket where it went through the wash…Plus, my dog has accidentally bitten the ring many times, and that can’t be good for it!

Mine is always on unless I’m putting on hand lotion. I just got back from Hawaii and wore it snokeling and surfing. My family was more concerned about it then me!

I take it off to clean and to put lotion on my hands. I still managed to misplace it and it was nowhere to be found for a week. It was also uninsured. That was scary…
