MemberWe are visiting Mexico soon and I feel uncomfortable taking my engagement ring. I worry about it getting stolen. Thinking of getting a “vacation ring”. Something that resembles my ring, sparkly except not a real diamond 🙂 Anyone else do this? 🙂
MemberNope, if I don’t feel comfortable wearing my ring, I just don’t wear one. We went to Mexico (Cabo) last year and I wore my rings and it was fine.
MemberI wear a stand in set regardless of where I’m going on vacation. It has nothing to do with me worried it will be stolen. Being on vacation gets you out of your daily routine, and I don’t leave my rings on all day and night, so I worry I’d take it off and lose it. Plus I like being able to switch up my set every once in while. People will say that’s why you should have insurance on your rings, but I just prefer not to take a chance.
MemberIf you take it, i’d wear it full time. Myself and several of my friends have had our room safes robbed by staff. If you don’t want to wear it in the pool or ocean I’d leave it home. Not just in Mexico,but an issue throughout the Carribean.
MemberI didn’t take my rings to Mexico when we went in August but I didn’t wear a stand-in set either. I was worried about losing my rings in the water and didn’t want to leave them in the room. For my own peace of mind, I just left them at home in our safe. I do take them camping though or on vacations we take that don’t involove going to the beach every day!
Lots of people do take thier rings on vacation though. It just depends on what you are comfortable with.
Personally, even though my rings are insured and I could replace them if they were lost or stolen I would be devastated at the sentimental loss. But not everyone is as sentimental about thier rings as I am.
